Maximus - water based lube by Bodywise Limited - review by Eva Schwaltz

This is an awesome, long-lasting water based lube from Bodywise Limited. It is compatible with all kinds of toys including those made out of silicone. Maximus is glycerine free so it should not cause yeast infections if you are prone to them. However, it contains parabens so those who are worried about parabens should stay away from this one. Even though it is very thick, using it in the shower will allow it to be washed away too quickly, so only use silicone based lube in the shower.

Just in case you are curious, here are the ingredients: Highly Purified Water, Propylene Glycol Cellulose Polymer, Di Sodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Methyl Paraben, Butyl Paraben, Ethyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben.

As you can see, the last 3 ingredients are parabens. Some people avoid parabens because of studies linking them to certain types of cancer. Parabens are preservatives found in many products, such as make-up, toothpaste, and deodorants, so if this frightens you, this isn't the right lubricant for you.

Maximous is very thick, just like the consistency of hair gel. When applied to any surface it glides easily to where you want it to go with your fingers. Luckily it won't drip or cause any annoying messes. When I apply it to my skin, it feels nice and smooth, it thins out a little over time but never gets sticky. It also dispenses in a nice clear blob and spreads around nicely without being stringy. It can also wash away easily with water without staining any of your clothing, sheets, or blankets. You can also just let it absorb in the skin and it won't become greasy or tacky.

I find this lube to have a horrible taste so if you plan on doing oral, turn to something else or nothing at all depending on your preference of course! The taste is very bitter and tends to linger so avoid getting it in your mouth if at all possible.

I twisted the pump cap off to get a wiff and there was no smell. When I placed some on my arm, I didn't detect any aromas so if you are worried about oders, this is a great lube to have.

This lube is very long-lasting. One glob of lube usually does the trick but for larger toys sometimes two pumps of lube works best. I've never had to reapply it so I think this bottle will last me a long time.

I've only used a couple of other kinds of lube, but I can tell future lubes have a lot to live up to in terms of performance. I haven't tried anal play yet but if I do, I wouldn't hesitate to pull out this bottle of lube. This is not made to be an arousal lube since there are no warming or cooling properties, but for all the other great things it does, this is a worthy investment.

Maximus only comes with a strip of tape across the top to show it hasn't been opened and to keep the pump handle in place. The strip of tape easily peels off so no need to break out the scissors. Minimal packaging is always great and good for the environment too.

This lube is a great alternative to those who don't want to use silicone lubes. Personally I don't like that a lot of silicone lubes are hard to wash, are more expensive, and can stain your sheets and clothing if you are not careful. This is a popular lube and I can see why. Maximus definitely makes your pleasure a lot easier and fun.

I can't say enough good things about this product. I got the 8.25 oz bottle with a pump that makes it easy to apply directly to your toys or to yourself. A pump bottle I find is a lot easier to manage than squeeze bottles or flip tops because you can better control how much lube you want to use. I've noticed a bit of leakage coming from the bottle so I always keep the pump handle in the down and locked position and the leakage has luckily stopped.
