Taken to the Max!
Maximus has very quickly become my go-to lube. Because it is water based, I don't have to be careful as to what toys to use it with and can be washed off of skin, clothes, and most fabrics easily. It provides a great thick layer of slipperiness that I've never found in another lube without a runny consistency. After reading several reviews of Maximus water-based lube and never having tried it, I decided it was finally time for it to join my bedside lineup.
I ordered the 8.25 oz. pump bottle from EF and it arrived with a seal over the top and also in a clear plastic bag to protect the other items in my shipment from any leakage. As another safety feature, you have to spin the pump several times around to get it to pop up to be functional. There is also an expiration date printed on the bottle which I think is an important feature some manufacturers overlook.
I had just gotten 2 new toys so I decided to give Maximus its first run. I applied it to myself first with my fingers. It gives a thicker and more substantial feel than most other waterproof lubes. It's about the same thickness as hair gel but goes on smoothly and doesn't run when applied to fingers or toys like other thinner ones will.
I then applied the lube to a new rubber dual-function vibrator. It stayed where I put it on the toy without running down or onto the sheets. This made insertion super-easy. I also tried it with a new silicone vibrator and it performed just as well on that surface.
I've also used this lube for some light anal play on my partner. It coats and stays in place beautifully. Because of its thickness it provides great consistent slickness without being runny or watery.
Maximus, like all water based lubes, will eventually begin to dissipate during use but in my experience it still lasted much longer than many others in the same category. It also just simply seemed to dry, as opposed to becoming sticky or leaving a residue on my skin.
It also will not last a very long time if used in water, say a shower or tub. However, on the up-side, since it is water based it washes of toys and skin easily without leaving any lingering residue or unwanted slipperiness and won't stain most fabrics.
It is virtually tasteless, having just the slightest tinge of sweetness and has no odor. I also have very sensitive skin and had absolutely no problems with my skin using this product.

Experience
This lube worked great for every toy material I tried it on as well as skin to skin lubricant. I would especially recommend it for anal because it doesn't dry up too quickly and provides a slightly thicker barrier to protect the delicate areas it may be applied to. It's an awesome option to silicone lube if you want something super smooth and long lasting but would rather avoid silicone lube for whatever reason.

This is still constantly at our bedside and we use it almost every time we use toys. I can't say enough good things about the consistency or the pump feature of this product and when we run out (we're down to about half), we'll definitely be re-ordering.

I know most people absolutely love this lube, but when I try to use it, it feels like my genitals are on fire! Could it be due to the parabens? Any thoughts, or any recommendations for another thicker water-based lubricant?

I'm not sure if it's kosher to mention a competitor's product here, but BabeLube is a wonderful water-based lube that's comparable in thickness to Maximus.

Maximus is my go-to lube. I have very sensitive skin and have never had a problem with it.

Is Maximus as Great as The Reviews Say?

Two negative things I've seen written are that it has a bitter aftertaste and it does peel off, dry, and need to be washed off.
Positives and opposites I've heard are that it has a natural tasteless feel similar to saliva, and it is a thicker lubricant. Also the pump looks like a great feature that makes this product less messy.
I would like to try it for myself, and wonder if it is really the go-to lube for me, and for others like me. -
This is my favorite water-based lube, hands down and without a doubt. It's pretty thick (ideal for backdoor fun). I've fallen asleep with it on my hands and don't wake up with fuzzy or sticky palms (until they get wet, then it reactivates).

It is slightly bitter but not bothersome. It is thicker and also works very well for anal. I never feel the need to wash it off unless I overdue in the heat of passion.

Does Maximus come in any other size bottles? I feel like 8 oz. would be a lot for me to use before it goes bad. Also, it seems like a big bottle to store somewhere discrete.

It really isn't very big - I have mine it a bedside drawer. Maximus is so thick that you don't have to worry about it leaking unless you really press on the bottle. If my mind isn't playing tricks on me, the bottle is about 2-3/4" in diameter and 4-1/2 to 5 inches tall (including pump), and I think it's closer to 4.5
I think mine's good to 2013 or something (I'm not at home now, but I can check later), so I wouldn't worry about it going bad -
