A Beginner's Plug

The Plug of Lust (small) is a wonderful little plug. It's very affordable, especially for such high quality, and it should not be overlooked.

Use

This is an anal plug. It's a little small so advanced users might be wary of this thing traveling places it shouldn't go or might not like its lack of girth. I tend to keep a finger though the loop when I use it, partially out of paranoia and partially because it's so small it likes to slip out a bit.

I think this plug is definitely suited for beginners. It's not intimidating at all and it goes in with very little effort.

Material / Texture

The Plug of Lust, or Plug der Lust as the package calls it, is made of 100% silicone. That makes it completely nonporous! It has no taste or smell and is smooth like butter, which is something beginners and advanced users alike can appreciate.

Design / Shape / Size

I love this design. It's bulbous with a very small tip, making it super easy to insert. This is on the small side. I can tell that, as I delve more into anal toys, this will probably satisfy me less. It's great for people who are new to plugs and for people who only want a little anal stimulation. It only has two inches of insertable length and is an inch in diameter at the widest point. The neck of it is half an inch.

I really like the loop on the end of it. It might make it annoying for people that want to wear the plug around, but I wouldn't really suggest this for wearing around anyway. Paranoid as I am, I'd probably utilize that loop to tether the plug to my underwear with string or something if I were going to do that.

I don't think this is really discreet. If a person knows what a plug is, they'll probably be able to tell this is one. I think it's plenty small to travel with, though.

Performance

I think this plug is great. I love the tiny tip and bulbous middle; it's simple to ease in.

However, it should be reiterated that this might not be to more advanced users' tastes; it's truly small. I recommend using the 'View Actual Product Size' function so you can get a real idea of how small this is.

It's true this little plug likes to slip out a little. A little attentiveness keeps that from being an issue.
    • Easy to use

Care and Maintenance

This plug is silicone, which means it can be cleaned and sterilized just about any way you want. Wash it with soap and water or your favorite toy cleaner; sterilize it in boiling water or with a bleach solution. I'm sure some industrious people might even put it on the top rack of their dishwashers! This is super easy to care for, just make sure you do clean it well; germs and all that. The white of this plug might turn some people off, out of sight out of mind and all that, but I think it makes it a lot easier to tell if this is cleaned properly.

Please don't ruin your lovely little plug with silicone lubes! Oil-based lube isn't recommended either, so just stick with water-based for this one.

A tiny plug, I just keep it in a little baggy.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The packaging for this left much to be desired. It has the traditional naked woman on the cardboard insert between the sides of the clamshell packaging, and is labeled primarily in German with English translations. It'd be perfectly decent to keep the plug stored in, though I might remove the cardboard insert.

I would definitely think twice before gifting this to someone. I personally feel that, with tasteful packing out there, handing someone something like this would be a little tacky. Unless I know the person in question wouldn't be offended of course.

There isn't much in the way of instructions, though I don't really think much is needed.
    • Not discreet
Follow-up commentary
This is an excellent plug for a beginner. It's body safe and can be sterilized. It's still holding up a hundred percent and doesn't seem to show any signs of wear and tear at all. That being said, I've moved on to the large version of the Plug of Lust and the small one seems inadequate to me now. I only use it as a precursor to other things, if at all. I like this plug, but I no longer need it.

Tacky packaging ruins the first impression of a toy, doesn't it.

Nice review. Shame that it seems to slip out though! Seems like a nice small starter's item.

  • Mirror, mirror on the wall . . . who is the smallest, least intimidating butt plug of them all?
    • I am completely new to anal play. Well, at least I am almost completely new: I have been attempting to get started for a couple of weeks now since my husband has expressed interest in trying anal sex.

Sadly, however, I have had a difficult time using what many reviewers have deemed as the perfect beginner's butt plug. It seems as though I need something even smaller than the following, all of which I have tried and find either very difficult to insert and/or too uncomfortable to wear for even a short period of time (and, yes, I do use a thick anal lube and try to insert gently and slowly):

Tantus Little Flirt (seems too long for my comfort)

Tantus Ripple (the last bead is too thick in diameter and it also is too long for me to fully insert comfortably)

FunFactory Bootie (the bulged head makes it very painful to insert, even going slowly and gently, and I find it too filling to wear comfortably for long, once it is in)

I am very sad that I am not "progressing" in anal play. Are there any smaller butt plugs out there to help me ease into using -- and hopefully even enjoying -- my *beginner* plugs so that I can eventually work up to trying anal sex?

Ironically, my husband has also just started to experiment with anal play to massage his prostate and he has even been able to use our Nexus G-rider with no problem. I don't understand why I am still stuck at the *pre-beginner* stage!

Thanks for any advice! I appreciate it.

Oh, I forgot to ask if the small Plug of Lust should be easier to use than the Tantus Little Flirt, Tantus Small Ripple, and FunFactory Bootie! Any other suggestions would be most appreciated, too.
    • At that price, the Plug of Lust is tough to beat. If price is not an object, then I might go for the Fun Factory Bootie instead because I think the base is better for long term wear. Another consideration if price were no object would be the Bob pleasure object.
