Didn't hit my spot

Do you like buzzy toys and do not require too much power to obtain climax? If that is the case, then this could be the toy for you. However, if you require rumbly vibrations and more intense power you will be highly disappointed in this toy.

Use

The Fun Factory Layaspot is designed as a clitoral stimulator, but can be used for stimulating other erogenous zones that appreciate stimulation.

It could be used during solo use or with a partner.

It does not look like a conventional sex toy so it may appear non-intimidating for beginners.

Advanced users that do not enjoy buzzy vibrations, this is not for you.

It can also be used as a massager on sore muscles.

Material / Texture

It is made out of elastomed which is non-porous, odorless, phthalate-free material. It is quite sturdy but still soft and flexible. The softness and plasticity of elastomed is achieved due to special molecular structure of the material not using chemical softeners like Phthalates. The overall product is hypo-allergenic as well as latex free. It is considered to be an 8 on Edens safety scale.

This does not have any added texture at all so those who require texture this would not be suited for you. In fact, it is really hard to the touch but feels smooth when placed on your sensitive areas. It also does not have any smell whatsoever.

Design / Shape / Size

This has the most color combinations I've seen so far in a toy. I ordered this before finding Eden so the only color combination I had access to was the sleek black and silver. If I was buying this here, I would have chosen the vanilla/baby blue.

The dimensions are as follows according to my measurements which do not correspond to the measurements located on the product page:

5 1/2" from top to bottom
4 3/4" circumference at the widest part which is in the middle
4 1/2" circumference at the tip
4" circumference at the base
2" wide

You can tell this is a well crafted toy, and was disappointed that it didn't work for me. I like the overall design of the toy and enjoy that it is ergonomic and fits easily in my hand.

Since it is such a small discreet toy, it is easy to carry along in your purse or bag when traveling. It is always best to remove toys when traveling, but if you did not I don't see it accidentally turning on. Also, it does not look like a conventional sex toy in design so it could potentially pass as something else.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Here I go again, the vibrations are too buzzy and not powerful enough for my liking and are located at the widest part of the toy. However, you can feel them at the smallest part of the toy as well and makes my hand and sensitive areas numb if used for long periods of time.

It requires 2 AAA batteries which were not included located under a screw on cap at the base of the toy. The cap says Fun Factory on it.

It starts off not being very noisy, but the higher the vibrations the louder it gets. It cannot be heard outside a closed door or while in the shower alone. That being said, it is waterproof and I have not had any issues with it after using it in the shower.

It has two easy to use raised controls a + and -. Push + for a few seconds to turn it on, and progress through the vibration and pulsation patterns. Press minus to return to the previous setting and to turn it off. I always appreciate this feature in toys because if I accidentally miss a setting I like, I don't have to cycle through them all again.

It has 8 levels of vibration and 3 pulsation patterns. It's really hard to distinguish between the vibration modes, but I would say it starts off very low like less than 1 vroom and at the highest setting go to a high level 3 vroom.

The pulsation modes are as follows:

Pulse-slower for a second-pulse
fast pulse
very fast pulse

If you are in pulsation mode and you go through all three patterns and hit plus again it goes back to the first pattern and not to the vibration. You have to hit minus to return back to the vibration mode.

Care and Maintenance

To clean a toy made of elastomed wash it with antibacterial cleaner and warm water.

It can be used with water-based and silicone-based lubricants.

I keep this in my lingerie drawer, but it can also be stored in a toy box or practically any other place you hide your toys.

Packaging

I don't recall what the packaging was like when I ordered this because I did not order it from Eden and it has been several months since I purchased it.

I know this did not come with any extra storage bags which is always disappointing because I like to store each individual toy I own in their own storage bag.

Personal comments

I've mentioned before in some of my other reviews that before I found Eden I asked my two best male friends what they would order because they knew my situation about not being able to achieve orgasm. One of them suggested some sort of massager so I decided to try this.

Experience

Overall, it is a nice toy just not for me. Now that I'm becoming more experienced with sex toys, I've learned what type of vibrations my body responds to and the buzzy type that this produces is just not it. That's all part of the experimentation process I suppose.

Excellent review. I love the color combinations on this but it doesn't sound like it would do the trick for me. Thanks so much!

Very good points. I'm really happy with how ergonomic it looks, but the buzzy vibrations sound disappointing.

Question - how do you use this toy? My understanding is that it is designed to rest on the public mound between the couple for increased clitoral stimulation during intercourse but it seems backwards. As you said, the strongest vibe is at the wide end not the narrow end but putting it between us during sex seems like the small end fits over the clitoris better - plus the controls are on the wider end and you want to be able to get to those.

not sure but we have the Laya and the better than chocolate ( the music ed) both have their good points, but the laya is a little smaller and compact. Both were really well tho and the music seting is fun feature!

So my partner and i decided to check out this site and order a bunch of new items. I just ordered the LAYAspot and it should be here friday! Ehh i cant wait! How does everyone feel about this cute toy?
    • reading the MANY many reviews on the toy will give you a good idea about the overall feelings and consensus of the toys.
    • it's nice that there are so many user submitted reviews on this site. it's so hard to choose a toy, especially an expensive one, with only the manufacturer description.

  • LayaSpot Questions
    • So, I just posted a review of this toy on my blog and and am rereading some reviews here. I am seeing some discrepencies and have a few questions for you.

Some reviewers state that this is a waterproof toy but my instructions clearly state that it is only splashproof. Perhaps the instructions have changed? Maybe Fun Factory decided it wasn't really waterproof? If you have this toy, what did your instructions say?

Furthermore, a few people said that they received silicone based BodyFluid with their LayaSpot but I received their water based lube and, again, my instructions said not to use silicone based lube (I believe, can't find them).

Also, I think it's just me but my Layaspot pretty much smelled god awful when I got it. Anyone else?

Just looking for different experiences with these things..

I've heard that fun factory toys can stink to high heaven, and I have no idea why they would because they're supposed to be 100% silicone. I have other silicone toys and they don't smell at all. Maybe it's not the toy itself but the packaging that surrounds it? Sorry I'm not much help, but the smell that people talk about with FF toys is enough for me to be wary of buying one.

I have since pitched my instructions, but I think mine said splashproof rather than waterproof. I got the Toyfluid (water-based) lube, and mine was smell-free! All of my FF toys have been totally odorless, actually.
