LAYAspot - clitoral vibrator discontinued by Fun Factory - review by Neotigress

The LAYAspot shines as a clit vibe and at the moment is my go-to vibe when I want a quick and assured release of stress and tension. Or I need a "quickie O" in between chores during the day. She is a rock solid sweet spot vibe; falling in the place where she isn't too rumbly and isn't buzzy.... but like a chair, bed or bowl of porridge, JUST RIGHT!

The LAYAspot is designed as an external clitoral vibrator, but it is also a wonderful toy to use on any external erogenous zone, including, nipples, scrotum and penis.

This toy is not designed in any way to be used in the vagina or anus, as it will very easily be lost in either orifice.

This vibe has multifunctions and modes, and was also delightfully nice as a massager when used in part of a muscle release regime of slow and sensuous muscle massage.

The toy description says it is made from "Thermo plastic elastomer" with a safety rating of 8.

My toy is two colors and each color feels like it is a different material. I'm not a chemist, so I don't have any idea if these are actually the same material. The grey areas of my toy; the cover to the battery container, the ergonomic "grip" on the underside, and the design highlight along the vertical line of the top that surrounds the controls, feels and looks like hard plastic. All the red areas feel like a "rubbery" textured coating on top of the hard plastic. When I take off the grey battery cap, my thesis is confirmed as the "male" portion of the screw cap and body of the toy is the hard grey plastic protruding from the red rubbery feeling coating around the toy.

The red rubbery texture is pleasing and well places. It is grippy, but not lint lifting like silicone. The red portions are firm, as is the entire toy, but gives just the slightest bit.

The grey portion is a very appealing plastic with a metallic sheen to it.

Before I purchased this toy, I thought the grey part with the cap was the portion that was designed to be the stimulation point, but it is actually the opposite end of the LAYAspot with the red grippy coating. This is a very pleasing texture for me, and has a nice amount of drag for pin point pleasure on my clit, without ripping my skin off in the process.

The two control buttons are also covered in the red grippy material, and this makes the controls very easy to use in the moment and I have not had any trouble pressing the wrong thing at the wrong time.

This toy was completely odorless and tasteless (the things we reviewers do in the name of "science").

The ergonomically designed LAYAspot is 4" in length and 4.5" in circumference at the widest spot. While it is designed (I think) for hands free vibes that you can rest on your pubic bone and basically let the little device work its magic, it does not fit my curves that way. With it's circumference it is also better for a warm up toy or a solo toy as in missionary type positions, it is too thick to not be a very painful speed bump in the action.

The ergonomic design of the places where you hold the toy are perfect and quite comfortable. My hand never starts to ache from the angle of the toy or the vibrations (most toys start to make my arms or wrist hurt when used).

The vibe is mostly in the tip that is designed for erogenous zone contact, but can also be felt throughout the toy all the way to the end with the battery compartment.

The toy runs on batteries and has a twist off battery compartment cap.

There are two simple control buttons well placed on the top of the toy. A "+" button and a "-" button. These buttons are well placed when in use, they are a nice size and made out of the rubbery material that the body of the toy is coated in. The plus or on button can take more than one push to get the toy to start, but then it switches between vibes and modes easily.

This design is some what descreet and does not in any way scream out "SEX TOY" if you leave it laying about; however it is such an interesting design and it is great two toned colors, that anyone who saw it would be curious to play with it, and then it would be fairly obvious what it was for.

There is no locking mechanism, but if you remove the batteries, this toy is so small and unassuming, it travels easily and well.

LAYAspot is truly a great middle ground, just outside of buzzing starting into rumbly, but not overwhelming. (My Luxe Rejuvenate, is what I call just at the too buzzy line, and my Salsa is too rumbly--LAYA is the sweet spot right in the middle of this vibrational scale.)

Two easy buttons, that is all, for a multi-speed and multi-mode toy.

The plus button pushed 1 time: lowest steady vibe.
The plus button pushed 1 more time: second steady vibe.
The plus button pushed 1 more time: next highest steady vibe.
The plus button pushed 1 more time: Highest steady vibe.
The plus button pushed 1 more time: Mode 1 which is oscillating.
The plus button pushed 1 more time: Mode 2 pulsing.
The plus button pushed 1 more time: Mode 3 fast pulse.
Hit the minus button and you drop out of modes to the highest speed and continue to hold it to the speed you desire. You will have to tap minus one more time to shut off.

The simplicity of this two button mechanism does mean that this toy does not have a travel lock, doesn't have a hold for three seconds and shut off and does not remember where you turned it off the last time you used it.

When I hold the toy for direct clitoral stimulation, the design of the toy coupled with the placement of the buttons are ideally placed if I think of this as a direct clit toy and not a hands free toy.

This toy can't be heard if you have either the door closed, or you're using it under the blankets.

The LAYAspot takes 2 AAA batteries and compared to my other toys, she is a bit of a battery guzzler. I have gotten 4 sessions out of her and then needed to change the batteries. They weren't dead, but they weren't strong enough to make her throb at optimum vibrations.

This toy says that it is water proof. I don't play in the tub as a general rule, and I love this toy too much to test it out. What I will say is that there is no "o ring", but the way the cap is designed, to bump up against the rubbery coating of the body of the toy, it is certainly splash proof, but without a dedicated o-ring, I do not at all trust this design to be submersible in water.

I clean and treat my toy like a silicone toy that is not water proof and wash it with toy cleaner in the sink or I use toy-wipes. If I were going to use this with a partner I would use a condom for safety sake as there are ridges and seams where the two surfaces meet.

For me I find this simple to use and clean up after as I don't share my toys, and I wash them all in the sink with a quality toy cleaner. If you preferred a 10% bleach solution would be very useful to clean this toy as well.

For storage, because I am certain that it isn't silicone, I just toss it in my toy box after I remove the batteries (batteries cost too much to let the juice seep away for nothing).

This toy is solid, firm, and sturdy. Since it is not silicone, it can be tossed just about anywhere.

This toy travels well if you remove the batteries. There is not a locking feature. And it is such a small and reasonable size, I find that it travels well in a purse, makeup bag oany otherer nook of a travel bag that I have.

I'm a Goldilocks when it comes to vibes. I need rumbly, but not too much. I need pin point-ish, but not too precise.

The LAYAspot, is my sweet spot. She is a gentle yet firm rumble. I get a broad pin point with her gentle curved tip that actually gets the tip of my clit, but also stimulates the length of my clit that travels under the hood for about half an inch as well.

When I want to get off in a reasonable amount of time, without effort and have a guaranteed, strong and reliable orgasm, LAYAspot is my go to girl.

I love her so much, I'm buying a second one to take with me in my purse.

While there are things she isn't (like water proof, or complete with a travel lock), LAYA is the perfect and reliable pleasure toy for me.

I was not expecting much from the spectrum of reviews that I read prior to getting LAYA (she was a gift), so I was not prepared for the amazing wave of quickly building pleasure and steady strong orgasm that she provided so quickly.
