The system comes with four ABS plastic, phthalate-free beads and one silicone girdle. You can insert one or two beads into the girdle. Two beads are pink, and two are blue. The pink ones are 28 grams while the blue are 37 grams in weight. One pink and one blue bead have a sturdy yet soft loop attached. This loop is just over three inches in length. You may place into the girdle any combination of beads you desire, and simply thread the looped bead through the hole in the bottom of the girdle. Insertion is a breeze with a little bit of lube. They might look big, but they are by no means larger than an average penis! The length of the beads plus the girdle is 3 1/2 inches, and they are 4 1/2 inches around and about 1 1/2 inches across.

The beads are weighted, and you can see a small, opaque bead that rolls freely inside of each pink or blue bead. This is what makes them so much fun! Jump, stretch, jog around, do a handstand (try this, seriously) . . . it feels great. The noise is minimal and very muffled due to, uh, being in your vagina. I have also taken a shower and a bath with no problem at all. I'd imagine you could swim with them, but I haven't; and I'm a germaphobe, so I likely won't unless I have a private pool. They do say swimming is one of the best exercises for your entire body, so imagine what swimming with the beads could do for your PC muscles!

The Luna Beads are small enough to fit into any vagina (if you relax, that is) and short enough to be comfortable without hitting the cervix. I have a short vagina, actually, and these don't bother my cervix at all.

There is one caveat to using them for an extended period of time: peeing. It's really, really hard to pee while you wear the beads. It makes sense, and I'm sure you've all heard how to find your PC muscles by isolating them to stop the flow of urination. I used to take them out, but that was a hassle, especially in public restrooms. Finally, I figured out that if I push them up with my finger just an inch or less, I can pee fully and freely. What a relief!

Taking them out is a cinch. Just tug gently on the loop, and they should pop out fairly easily. Afterward, be certain to clean thoroughly in hot water with antibacterial soap. I've also boiled them, which I like to do every week or two just to make sure things are absolutely clean.

When I first unearthed the Luna Beads from their silky drawstring pouch, I noticed how pretty the candy pink and powder blue colors were. They are slick and smooth to the touch, with no discernible taste or smell. The silicone girdle smells very, very faintly of the material from which it's made, but it is not an unpleasant odor whatsoever. These beads are made of very firm ABS plastic, but they aren't intimidating because they are so smooth and pretty.

The whole thing, girdle and beads together, slides in easily and comfortably. I don't think beginners would have a difficult time with insertion. Just warm up some lube in your hands and apply liberally before the first use. After inserting them, they aren't super noticeable. If not for the bead-within-bead stimulation system, I would say they would be as noticeable as a Diva Cup or tampon. Sitting still, I don't notice them unless I think about what's tucked up in my glory box.

Advanced users of Kegel devices should have no problem with these. They are smaller than Smart Balls (and sexier looking), and they are certainly less medical device-y than the Gyneflex (wonderful product, but it does look like a vaginal Thighmaster).

Once again, LELO doesn't disappoint. The design of these beads is arguably the prettiest on the market. I do have a teeny issue with the pink weights being the wimpier ones and the blue being the heavier because I just don't like gender stereotypes (Gyneflex does this too). That's not enough to detract from my love of Luna Beads one bit. I do think that perhaps the silicone girdle could be made out of a more interesting color than stark white, which I feel looks a bit medical for this type of product.

I enjoyed the slick, smooth beads and the softness of the girdle. The string appeared, at first glance, to be mere fabric, which worried me because I figured it would fray. However, it's tough and coated yet soft, and it won't irritate delicate skin. The size is just fine for me and is likely fine for the average user.

I could have handled more weight to the blue pair of beads. I think a third set might be nice or even one blue and one (for instance) purple bead that weighs the most of the three hypothetical colors. However, it is effective.

I like them much more than Ben-Wa Balls because I find them more stimulating and more attractive, and I like the girdle/string setup. Travel with Luna Beads is easy. You can wear 'em or you can store them in their satin drawstring pouch and tuck that away into the elegantly discreet storage box.

You don't really have to even think about using Luna Beads. I always found it difficult to remember to do Kegels and, secondly, to actually convince myself I need them in the first place.

Well, the first time I used these pretty little vag-ercisers, my muscles were worn out after just a few hours. Now, I often go for a jog, play Wii Fit, do yoga, masturbate, or just wear them to the mall or out on the weekends. Yoga is a particularly delightful application for Luna Beads; the dynamic nature of both the poses and the beads adds a completely new dimension to the rather repetitive Sun Salutation.

After using them for a couple of months, I'm not as aroused by the movement of the beads. I'm not sure if I'm just used to it, but if I take a break for a few days and come back, I can enjoy the sensations anew.

Caring for this system is simple. You do need to pop the beads out of the girdle to effectively clean them. Once out, you may wash with hot water and an antibacterial soap or a toy cleanser. I've boiled the girdle every so often because it has nice curved edges that feel great inside, but it could potentially trap bacteria or other baddies you don't want in your vagina.

I rinse them off, dry them, and pop them back into their white satin drawstring bag. You don't want to store this system out in the open because the silicone doesn't like dust, other silicone toys, or silicone lubes. And never use silicone lube with your Luna system, okay?

For extra-discreet storage, stick the drawstring bag into your black LELO box. The embossed logo is so faint as to barely be seen, and only fellow sex-positive people would figure out what's lurking in there anyway.

LELO always has packaging that is pleasing to the eye. The Luna system is no exception. It comes in the standard extra-sturdy cardboard box with a separate lid (it doesn't look like cardboard, it actually looks somewhat like those nice jewelry store boxes). Inside the box is an instruction manual, a packet explaining the one-year warranty, and a glossy black booklet filled with artsy photos of LELO items and full information on the 10-year quality guarantee.

The information was helpful and somehow manages to be sexy and tasteful, which isn't easy to do with a vaginal exercise product. This packaging would make a great gift, but use your best judgment so it isn't taken the wrong way! I suppose it's a lot better than pulling aside your friend and whispering, "Hey, Jane. Jill and I were talking about how you pee a little when you laugh, and you know . . . you really need to work on those Kegels, hon."

However, this packaging is perfect for storage. I keep it on my nightstand, and nobody's batted an eye at it. Being able to leave it out in the open where I can see it is a definite advantage for me. I'm very forgetful.
