If you like popcorn jelly beans...

If this had more of an actual raspberry vanilla scent, I'd be all over it and go through a tube every week. Instead, it smells like popcorn jellybeans and I can't stand it. I might try some other flavor/scent of this lotion, since it did absorb well and it was relatively easy to use and dispense.

Use

Cake's Velveteen Hand Creme is a lotion intended for dry, overworked hands. It comes in an easy-to-dispense tube with a fool-proof snap top.

I have been looking around for a lotion that would nourish my hands the way they deserve. I thought that perhaps this would be the end-all for me, but I guess you should never go in with high hopes when buying online!

This lotion would still be great for use in any situation- its easy to store in a purse, the bathroom cabinet, or a desk drawer, and there is nothing racy about it. It is great to use on hands, arms, elbows, anywhere really.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

When I opened the bottle for the first time, I dispensed a small amount of the white lotion into the palm of my hand. The texture was smooth, light (without being so light that it just immediately absorbed), and easy to spread. I massaged it into my hands and it absorbed very easily and did not leave any excess residue or greasy feeling.

Overall, in terms of texture, this really is a great hand lotion. It moisturizes and leaves the skin feeling soft (and still like your own skin and not some oily mask). It doesn't run down your hand, and you don't have to massage at it forever to get it to go where you want it.

Taste / Aroma

Well, then, you say, why am I so displeased? This sounds wonderful so far.

Taste-- I do not advise.

Aroma--the issue at hand for me. It says raspberry vanilla. To me, all I could smell was that gross candy-sweet smell of buttery popcorn jellybeans. The jelly bean that I would spit out as a kid.
Where is the raspberry? Where is the soft vanilla?

The scent just totally ruins the lotion for me. I can't wear it at all! What the hell?
Someone else might not have this issue, but it definitely smells like popcorn jellybeans to me.

I have considered trying the other scents, though, and I might very well purchase something else.

Performance

This lotion did a good job at moisturizing hands, and absorbing into the skin more than other lotions I have bought off EF. I did reapply it after washing my hands, though, but moreso out of habit than extreme necessity.

I liked that it did not leave a residue on my hands, and that the tube was good for germ-free dispensing (a problem I have with a tub of butter or salve). But that smell...

And I love sugary, sweet smells. My favorite body butter from The Body Shop is Brazil Nut (which smells like cookies to me). But this just missed the mark.
