Wonderful glide and amazing light scent.

I love Lelo products and this massage oil is no exception to that. It may have a high price tag, but it's still awesome!

Use

Massage oil, and a good one at that. I really liked this oil and the light scent that it has and the gold flakes are pretty groovy. I have the spicy clove and amber scent. I really was expecting a more intense smell but its really nice that its not super strong.

I didn't really have high hopes for this oil because I am a bit of a massage oil snob but this stuff went well above and beyond my expectations. It has pretty good glide and while it is oily, doesn't leave you feeling super greasy, which is pretty awesome if you ask me. Please do keep in mind that this is a massage oil and is not to be used as a personal lubricant.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Thin, not very viscus at all. Even though it has gold flakes in it you can't feel them, they are very very tiny, so they do not add an abrasive quality to this oil. Like I said earlier, this stuff has awesome glide and therefore is amazing for massage.
    • Slick
    • Smooth

Taste / Aroma

While I picked out the spicy clove and amber scent, I don't really think I can smell the clove in it. It's a rich smell even though it's light. You can really smell the carrier oils here, but it still smells great.
    • Light smell

Performance

Amazing performance. I am a bit of a massage snob, having gone to school for massage therapy. I really am impressed with how well this oil preformed. It has great glide, while not being super greasy and slick. The smell is light.

The carrier oils are apricot, jojoba, and grape seed oil and shouldn't cause too many concerns for those with allergies, but in case you have sensitive skin, you may want to take caution because some perfumes can cause issues.
    • Long lasting
    • Needs to be washed off with soap and water

Packaging

The Lelo Flickering Touch Massage Oil comes packaged in a fairly nice cardboard box, that is mostly black with the brand name info on the front and top. A picture of the bottle on one side, instructions/product info on the back in 5 languages (English, German, French, Spanish, and Italian) also the ingredients list in English.

The oil itself is in a lovely heavy black glass bottle with an interesting ring type cap to keep the bottle from accidentally dispensing the oil. Not great for travel but still nice. It's very easy to use and dispense though.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Does not leak
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

Make sure you shake it up well so that the gold flakes are evenly distributed through the oil before use.

I love to give my other half massages, so I splurged and got myself a bottle of the flickering touch. I love Lelo products but I still didn't have high hopes. I was pleasantly surprised; I love this stuff!

Experience

I don't really think that the gold flakes are large enough to use as glitter, the scent isn't really strong enough to use as perfume, but it really is awesome for massage (which is a good thing seeing as that is what it was designed for!)

The pump on the bottle dispenses about a half teaspoon ( I didn't measure, just a guesstimate)I used about 6 pumps for a 30min back rub, it was great to work with and didn't absorb too quickly or too slowly (to leave a super greasy feeling). This really is a wonderful, high quality oil. Although that bottle does get slick when you have oily hands.
Follow-up commentary
I use it more for a subtle perfume these days but I do still love this stuff. Its great for massage and for perfume. Lelo really hit the mark with the Flicker Touch Massage Oil.

    • Is this product ok for someone with oily skin that breaks out easily?

I've actually been using it every day as a moisturizer (I get dry skin in winter)and it has no bad effects on my skin. It cleans off easy and doesn't leave you feeling greasy afterwards so I don't think it will leave much residue to block your pores.
    • I've got all three of them and yes!!! I've got weirdly oily skin in some places and very dry skin in others.

Lelo oil is the only moisturiser I've been able to use daily after my shower that doesn't make my skin drip with oil, doesn't feel like it coats my skin, and makes my skin feel sooooooo good!!! The scent is not strong and works with my perfume not masking it or changing the scent.

This being said, I feel that the spicy clove and amber one is the strongest scent out of all three (but not in a bad way if that makes sense) and not something I'd recommend for the summer.

I've used all of the Burt's Bee's line, Ocean Potion Original and the Hemp Seed lotion, countless after sun's, and countless other products designed for oily and combination skin from name brands to dollar store types and everything in between. Last year I switched to using just olive oil as a moisturiser in the winter and had some good results, but I couldn't stand how it smelt.

Then I tried the Lelo oil... and WOW!!! My skin has been so thankful!!! I have found that on the underside of my breasts, I have to be careful to not apply too much and to rub in a little bit extra, or make sure I let my skin dry completely before putting on clothes.

And on that note, I am off to write a review for Lelo oils.

I haven't tried the candle yet, but I imagine so, I really love this oil apart from the mild scent.
    • It certainly looks luxurious

  • LELO's massage oil
    • I'm usually not one for massage oil. I have weird issues about things like that. But holy cow that is one amazing container and I'm tempted to buy it because of that!

Great job LELO, as expected; you guys are amazing at designing packaging!

Anyone else added this to their wishlist yet?
