The throe has a plush animal print side and a black silky side. It therefore doesn't look a whole lot like any of the blankets you are likely to have around your home. It probably more resembles am elegant picnic rug because it is flat and thin but still has some weight in it from the absorbent middle layer. It is very comfortable to lay on, particularly with the plush side up. I don't use it with the black silky side up unless I just want something cool to lay on. To me the black side seems to feel a bit more wet to me once something is on it, whereas you can just about lay straight back down on the plush side without it feeling more than mildly damp.

I have exposed this to a number of wet substances. Yes I am a squirter when I use G spot dildos, and before getting the throe had squirted my way through quite a few towels, getting wet spots where they didn't belong. This is irreplaceable for this purpose due to the fact it is sometimes a reasonably large volume of fluid. It is also 'a must' when I have sex on my period as it makes me feel much less self conscious than when using a towel to protect the sheets, and it's more comfortable. You could say that it gives me a little luxury and security when I need it most. It is also really nice because it covers a much wider area than a towel making it comfortable to roll around on. It's great for normal sex too because the plush side locks away the wet spot quite nicely as well as any after sex drips. However I rarely think about this at the time of sex. Sometimes I get it after sex for the snuggle instead. I also frequently wipe my lubed up hands on my throe when I dispense a little too much and it's barely noticeable on the plush.


Some reviewers have mentioned a crinkly texture from new. I concur that this crinkliness diminishes with the first wash.


I don't do a lot of my own washing, and I figure as long as it's minimally soiled it's OK to leave it in a discreet place for a while (so long as no-one uses it for anything else). The only substance where you shouldn't leave it too long is blood, which should probably be washed out within a day or so, which has been successful for me. In my laziness I recently left a small blood stain for quite some time and it didn't come out completely in the wash. I felt that it did diminish quite a lot more compared to what I'd expect something like a cotton weave would, and I feel sure it will come out the next time it gets washed. It's a delicate machine wash for the throe and a tumble dry low heat so it's pretty easy to do on a regular basis (as long as frequent washing doesn't raise suspicions about its use ;-) ).


Apart from being a very obviously practical item for which there is no common substitute, it's aesthetics, as you can probably tell from the picture, are great. It could fit in quite easily in a fashionable room.
