Astroglide X is a decent lubricant, but there is nothing special about it. Don't get too excited, it's just another lube.

Use

What: As long as other silicone products are not involved during sexy time, Astroglide X is great for lubrication because it is...lube.

Who: Whether you are a male, female, heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, pansexual or whatever, this lube will probably be satisfactory.

When: Like most lubes, Astroglide X can come in handy if you are masturbating, using a toy or playing slip and slide on your partner's butt.

Why: To avoid chafing and to make things slippery. Obviously.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

X certainly has the typical silicone texture: oily/greasy. The lube is also kind of thin, but not as thin as the regular, water based Astroglide. Since X is thin, it is easy to pour.

Taste / Aroma

Both the aroma and taste are weak. However, I wouldn't recommend chugging this lube. It tastes siliconey.

Performance

For anal penetration, the lube was frequently reapplied, but that's just my normal practice with any kind of lube. However, during masturbation (a.k.a. beating the meat, choking the chicken, cleaning the tailpipe, wrapping the burrito, mugging the mini tourist, clubbing the baby seal) the lube was only reapplied once.

Astroglide X washes off glass and plastic toys easily with a bit of water and mild soap. Cleaning the lubrication off of skin might take a tad bit more effort, but it is not a challenge.

Packaging

The 2.5 oz bottle comes in a box, which is not too subtle about its purpose.

The bottle itself is not discreet. The word sex may not be printed on it, but most people could easily assume that it is lube. In addition to the lack of subtlety, this bottle will leak if it is not left standing up straight.

It's better than Wet Platinum Bodyglide.
Follow-up commentary
My reason for this follow up is to address the performance of the lube in the shower. I realize this lubricant is not ideal when water is present. In fact, there are two problems when water is added to the mix. The water dilutes the lubricant, so it does not make sex, or masturbation (with or without toys) comfortable. While the water dilutes the lube to the point of discomfort, the water does not wash off the lube. The addition of soap does not help, unless you are using liquid dish washing soap. In my original review, I stated that cleaning the lube was not a challenge. After my recent experience, I take that back. Cleaning it is annoying. I must have been a lot more patient when I first wrote the review.

Silicone lube is probably a bad idea in the shower. If one little drop falls to the ground, your tub/shower immediately becomes a slipping hazard.

The list of euphemisms detracts from the review, in my opinion. I would have liked some more information on why this was a good lube, as well, but I suppose this is a good start.
