Maximus - lubricant by Bodywise Limited - review by Silverdrop

Maximus is a thick, clear lubricant that is excellent for anal play, toys, manual masturbation, and partnered sex. Because it's water based, it will not react poorly with toys or condoms. Because it is biostatic, it will not carry microbes. That and its thickness makes it ideal for anal. It is long lasting enough to make it great for partnered intercourse, as you will not have to interrupt the moment to reapply lube. And of course, it works well for manual masturbation, if you prefer a thick lubricant for that.

There are two contraindications: If you or your partner are sensitive to parabens, you should not use this product. And if you intend to combine oral with your play - OMG! Do NOT use this product!

I put a dab of lube the size of a dime (or five pence piece for those reading from the UK) on my finger. It stays in a spherical shape that only very slowly flattens to gravity. When I held my finger vertically, it was very slow to start sliding down. When I held it upside down, it was very slow to start to drip off, and went down in an elongated glob before the length of it broke in the middle. To put it simply, this lube is thick. You can put it on your toys and have plenty of time to maneuver them into position before the lube will slip off.

When rubbed between the fingers, it has a smooth and slippery feel that warms up nicely with friction.

When I tried to rub it into the skin like a lotion, it resisted. It lasted a long time, failing to absorb into the skin. This had been my experience in use as well, that it did not absorb into the skin, and so stayed slippery for a long time. However, the downside of this is that eventually, when it does dry up a little, it ends up a little bit tacky and has to be washed off.

It smells like nothing at all. Oh how I wish that was how it tasted.

Seriously, I had read other reviews that said it was bad, and was going to just say the same without trying it, but my Reviewer Conscience insisted that I actually taste it. Right now, my tongue is refusing to speak to my Reviewer Conscience. If it weren't for my clit, G-spot, and anus voting enthusiastically in favor of my Reviewer Conscience's insistence on trying everything carefully, we might have a revolt going on.

Yeah, it's terrible - really bitter and chemical-tasting with a sweet overlay that somehow just makes it worse. Don't taste it. Really. Yuck.

Because of its thickness, Maximus is easy to apply. It is especially useful for toys with lots of bumps and crevices, and it will stay where you put it. Whenever I pull out something that has been inserted, it tends to pull a lube string with it, which is kind of fun and kind of messy. I have never needed to reapply it during playtime. In fact, there's usually quite a bit left to clean up afterwards - enough that I need to use a wet cloth or even take a shower to get clean.

Disclaimer: My bottle of Maximus is a 50ml squeeze bottle. Since this size is not sold on Eden, I will not be reviewing the packaging.

In use, this lube performed very well. In the interests of doing as complete a review as possible, I got out my seldom used anal beads for a double penetration play session. I inserted as much lube as I could in advance with my fingers, then applied a dollop to each bead before lying on my side with one leg up on the pillow to insert them. At no point did I feel any discomfort due to friction or dryness.

At this point, it was fairly easy to wipe the lube off my hands with some tissues. However, despite the products assurances of being biostatic, I felt it would be safer to wash my hands before continuing. If I'd thought it through ahead of time, I would have placed some hand sanitizer by the bed.

I continued by applying lubricant to my G-Ki. This particular toy is silicone, and due to its drag, always requires lubricant before insertion. The thickness of the Maximus made it stay in place easily. This was the first time I had used the G-Ki when there was something in my ass, so there was extra tightness. The Maximus performed well and gave me no difficulty at all, and I never needed to reapply lubricant.

My only real complaint came from the end of the play session. After the toys were removed, and I grabbed some tissues to clean myself up, I felt as if there was lube everywhere. Because it didn't absorb into the skin, I couldn't wipe clean with tissues. I ended up having to step in the shower.

In my uses of it since then, I have noticed the same thing. I don't have to shower every time, but I do have to use a damp washcloth to get cleaned up.
