Is it alright to repurpose ankle cuffs as wrist restraints?

Contributor: Lulia Lulia
I've been trying to find a pair of wrist cuffs for the partner that are long enough since he has fairly big wrists with still some space left over and it seems like most of the ankle cuffs have the ideal length.

Is it alright and safe to repurpose these as wrist restraints?

Thank you!

The only real difference is that wrist cuffs are shorter. You should have no problem at all substituting ankle ones for wrist ones!

Thanks for all the responses! I'm still new to the whole tying up the partner thing, so I want to make sure safety first.

As long as they fit corectly. Some are actually made specifically to do both and even if they are not there is no real difference between ankle and wrist cuffs except ankle cuffs are usually a little larger.

As long as they fit there shouldn't be a problem at all. Cuffs are cuffs. It's good to play it safe when it comes to bondage sorts of things, just check with your partner and make sure he is comfortable once you've got him all tied up

Okay, that makes sense. Just some on Eden were specifically labelled as wrist and other as ankles, causing this newbie to scratch her head.

The main difference between wrist and ankle cuffs is the size. If you have larger wrists, you might need ankle cuffs, it happens. You can also wear ankle cuffs reasonably comfortable with a regular sized wrist (I was handcuffed to a briefcase to make sure we didn't lose some papers, that was an interesting weekend).
