Your "past due" thing needs an adjustment

Okay. We have ALWAYS had 3 weeks to review a product. Here is my issue.
It is giving me 3 weeks from the date of accepting the review, and telling me, in the email, I have 3 weeks to review and that it also gave me a week for shipping.

This means it should bug me a month later. I would be fine with that.

In fact, I was fine with it before shipping changed. But Smartpost takes 7-10 days to get to me EVERY time. Not to mention it should go by the date of shipping, not the date of acceptance anyways, since its not possible to receive it the same day you accept it. So basically by the time I get this email I have had the toy for 11-14 days, assuming it emails me correctly. Most recently, I have been getting emails a few days early. For example the toy it is asking about shipped on the 10th. 3 weeks, or 21 days from that would be the 31st.. not today. If it's going by the accept date, it needs to go from the shipping date instead.

I understand wanting a fast turnaround time, but you slowed the shipping method, and I know I sure as heck am not getting 3 weeks to review ANYTHING due to that. I get 2 at the most before the system bugs me.
I dearly wish I was one of the lucky few who still got their stuff in 2-3 days with smartpost. But I am not. It is very slow and unpredictable for me.

So, can you please.. please.. please adjust your system? It's not doing what it says it is (3wk for review 1wk for ship) and its really annoying when I know one week of that was wasted waiting for the toy.

I'm really sorry if this comes off as bitchy, I have a horrible cold and have had a very weird past few days.

I think turn around time for DR's has changed to two weeks, though I don't think there's been an announcement yet.

Perhaps the system work for it has been done even though things aren't fully in place? I know that happens sometimes.

Why not just e-mail back and state that you've only had it for two weeks and will have it up shortly. Or, ignore it and take it as a reminder.

@Carrie
Oh.. that would have been nice to know. I was always told it was 3 weeks.

@Juliettia
I did email back, but it makes me worry, you know? It makes me anxious.
I don't want to get a reputation as some deadbeat reviewer who takes ages to review everything. Plus.. I don't know what'd happen if I ignored it.

Back when the program was newish I had an issue with that (long story, never rec'd product due to change in the price guidelines) and it literally took months to clear up, so I really don't want to get 'flagged' by the system again.

Besides.. IMO its always better to fix things that can be fixed, you know?

Eden has always wanted Description Reviews a little faster, since they're waiting for the review/description to come in to start selling the product. "Ordinary" reviews have been a little longer, though - 3 weeks sounds about right.

I think there's a little flexibility if you need it. I was doing a DR on the O-Max, and it took me a while to figure out how to use it properly/comfortably. I wound up e-mailing Gary what was going on, and they seemed to be OK with it being a little late.

The time frame has always been 3 weeks including shipping. This has not changed.

The past due message was recently updated, and the mentioning of a week for shipping was an error that is being corrected.

The past due message is a reminder, if you are having a problem just email me and let me know what is going on.

Honestly, I know things have stayed the same but I have gotten an overdue for my assignments like.. the past 3 times and it's like "What? Already? No way!" and I have to check the calendar. Smartpost is rather lengthy for some folks (and the tracking isn't updated as well).

Does this mean we will not have a bit more time (the message being updated)? I know that I've only ever had to e-mail someone to tell them what's going on and I try to do that. You guys have always been good with it but I feel bad racking up those e-mails when I otherwise would've been fine.

It is just an auto message. No worries! You get to it when you can.

I'm late with lots of my reviews... I don't worry. Just means no toys for the future! (And really early with others!)

If you guys knew my life sometimes....

I think this is what's happening with me. I never used to have problems but now that smartpost is/was (I just got something new and it went out USPS Priority so I am quite confused) a regular option I think that it's catching up with me. It's new to me and it makes me feel odd, you know?

However, I'm fine with it.. I guess I need to stop being so OCD about getting everything done immediately then. The world wont end, lol. I did email earlier but I managed to get the review done anyhow. I'll try to note just to email if it happens again as well.

I do think it should go by the ship date and not the accept date however. Sometimes things do take a day or two to ship, and it had only been 19 days since the last one shipped. Is there any way it could be set to do that?

The warehouse guys do a wonderful and speedy job but sometimes you get it accepted on a weekend or w/e and it takes a little while for whatever reason. It's not their fault or anything, it'd just be nice. Or maybe I am just way too OCD. That is entirely possible.

It's more about the What than the When. You contribute so much - if you are occasionally late due to shipping, no one counts that against you!

I know how you all feel and hell, I am part of the review program staff. I have a DR product coming in the mail and it finally showed up today, two weeks (Ok it was ten days, but it FELT like two weeks!) after it was assigned (love Christmas shipping season). I normally get stuff shipped out on Friday and in my hands by Monday, so I'm all stressed. I've been feeling guilty about this and it's not even my fault! But, Gary and Vic are right, everyone is reasonable and understanding, especially about shipping delays. Communication is the key, just keep Gary informed of the situation and it's all good.

Well, I've reviewed a lot of books and DVD's. Often those are simply impossible to either read or manage to find the right time in a two/three week period. Then if I'm on my period or having a particularly stressful time in my life there is another reason that toys aren't a huge win for a bit. Sometimes I want to try something with my husband, and then I have to get him involved. All in all it's just complicated.

I know that I invest a lot of time in writing my reviews - sometimes time that I really don't have, and I'm doing my best. Most of the time I'm on time, but I don't stress if I'm not. Eden and sex toys should not be one more source of stress for me. If it got to that point, I'd just quit as a reviewer, and I'm not sure that would be good either!

As for you, I think your reviews are a great resource!

Still as it has been mentioned Gary and the rest of the review staff are very understanding about delays...I've had unexpected out of state delays and then an OMG I just had a baby delay and everyone was very nice about it! LOL Still I hate having a review hanging over my head as well, love the toys, hate having to wait to express my feelings over the toys! I have noticed that shipping seems to take FOREVER now but I'm ok with that just builds the anticipation!

I don't like getting the "past due" emails, either, just because it makes me feel bad. Sometimes a toy is either not working out and it's taking longer for me to learn how to use it / try to enjoy it, and other times I feel like I have too little time between receiving a toy and needing to post a review, regardless of whether a toy is not a good match for me. And I feel really guilty, even though I haven't gotten any further scolding like "Hey hurry up" or anything. Feeling rushed lowers the quality of my reviews, and that bugs me, too. I also don't want to come off like a slacker to the admins if I'm late for multiple assignments. Just sharing thoughts.

I totally agree. One of my recent reviews was super-delayed due to finals week. It was a harness and I hadn't been able to go home to try it out with my boyfriend. Not only was I suffering from boyfriend withdrawals, I was stressing out about finals and the review 3-week deadline! I kept dreading the day the past-due email would come, and when it did I was like "Oof. I suck." It wasn't until I was fervently scribbling my excuses for crappiness that I realized I totally could have sent in an "FYI: truck of busy has run me over" email beforehand.

Way to fail, me!

You might benefit from my system. I too, have to wait longer to receive my products. When I receive them, I use them a few times within a few days and then write the review. I normally get a review up by the time the waiting period hits two weeks on the system, which I believe may be closer to three.

But sometimes that just totally isn't feasible with schedules, roommates or family and just... real life.

I am worried about this happening to me right now. I accepted an assignment on 12/23, got an email on 12/24 saying that it had shipped and giving me the tracking information on it. As of today, when I check the tracking, it indicates that the shipping information has been sent to FedEx but it has not left NJ yet.

Got a product on the 30th and got the email on the 7th. But Gary assures me that all is really well with the world...

That's just not enough time to find my brain.
