We're not in Kansas anymore
Great for extended wear out and about town, stays put and feels very secure, and is a pretty pleasurable toy in all orifices, but may be too small for experienced players.Published: December 13, 2008
Pros:
Wide bulb gives a decent stretch, stem and base are very comfortable.
Cons:
For pros, this may not give a great stretch. Also, the base can chafe a bit.
When I first looked at this toy, I was a little disappointed, thinking, "This is only good for a warm up." My new severin looked like a hard-core biker next to this unassuming little guy. Boy, was I wrong.
I thought I'd pop him in easy-squeezy, just to try the little bugger out. I was surprised, at first, to find that my anus was putting up a pretty good resistance. I twisted and pushed and badgered until it relented, though, and was shocked at how big and comfortable it felt once it was finally in.
And that's really what separates the Ryder from my other butt plugs. I actually just wore it to the grocery store, and had no problems, other than a little chafing on the outside. That was remedied (once I was home, of course!) by turning it so the base lined up with my crack better (there has got to be a more lady-like way to say that but I just can't think of it right now). It's definitely well-designed, and perfectly suitable for long-term use. The aforementioned Severin tends to slip in and out, and my ripple is just too long.
Mind, if you try and do some thrusting action with this guy, it's not going to happen unless you've got a good gape going. The head is just too blunt for that. It's also a little short, and you'll find that you're popping in and out without much sensation in between. And if you're an experienced player... well, this plug may just feel small to you, as it did to me after an hour or two. I love that stretched out feeling, and just didn't get it with the small stem. On the other hand, that's what makes this one so comfortable.
It does double as a good vaginal and oral plug, though, making this pretty multipurpose. Just clean this guy off and insert him in your vagina (if you've got one, that is) while your man's up your ass for some good double penetration. Speaking of cleaning, since this toy is 100% smooth, silky silicone, you can boil it for a few minutes, put it in the dishwasher, or clean it with either an alcohol or bleach solution to sterilize it. I prefer boiling myself, as I love the warmth afterward, but you have to be careful or you could melt it (say, if it touched the bottom of your pot too long, or kept it in the water too long). I find that 3 minutes works for me, and removes all odors, lubes, bodily fluids, whatever.

Why should you never use silicone on a silicone toy?

Some, not all silicone lube will 'stick' to silicone material. I have read that some premium silicone lubes will work with some premium silicone materials. You can try some on the base and see, when I last tried it kinda etched the silicone material. (does that make sense) It left a indentation were the lube was.
That's the basics, Some of the other members can give a more technical answer. -
Some silicone lubes will bond to some silicones. This seems to be more of an issue the softer the silicone is, so toys like O2 and VixSkin will be more susceptible (makes sense, as the silicone has fewer crosslinks). Quality lubes seem to have less of a problem also, and it is likely that cheaper silicones might have more of a problem.
I have tested quality silicone lube on several quality silicone toys and did not notice a permanent problem, but (a) the toys developed "hives" that lasted for a few hours (was gone the next day) and (b) it's really hard to clean the silicone lube off of the toys, but it can be done. While this is purely subjective, but it seemed that the silicone lube wasn't as "lubey" on silicone toys. I don't use silicone lube on silicone toys anymore - it's just not worth the trouble.

Is this going to be in stock soon?

If you haven't noticed, I've been going over my wishlist (see the O2 discussion) and I've noticed that this plug that I've wanted forever isn't even in stock. Will it be restocked?

That's funny. Two of the toys that I want to purchase are out of stock as well. The Vixen Ryder and Johnny. Then I noticed that several Vixen products are out of stock at the moment. I wonder when all of these toys will be restocked.

Thank you for viewing Ryder – sex toy review page!

Definitely a product at the top of my wish list! Thanks for the info and review!
Liked your review! The Ryder remains one of my favorite butt plugs as I use it as a warm up for larger toys and anal sex. I never found it did much for me in extended ware and the base is then uncomfortable on my cheeks. It is a solid plug but doesn't give.
Thanks for the review!
The Ryder just looks like it does what a butt plug should. The shape looks awesome and your review confirms it!
