I hesitated before writing a review for the Tantus Ryder simply because the there are so many reviews singing the praises of this butt plug already. But I do love this delightful little plug, so what the heck, I’ll add my voice to the choir. More information can only help when trying to pick out the perfect toy online.

Since the basics of form and function are pretty well covered in the multitude of reviews, I’ll keep my praises brief and focus on my experience with this little plug.

I own the dark purple version of the Ryder and it is quite firm and unyielding for a silicone toy. This plug has far more give than metal or glass, but generally less than other brands of silicone toys I have encountered, and certainly less than most rubber or jelly toys. It is also ridiculously smooth and shiny with a swirled metallic look to it. This combination of smooth and firm make it easy and pleasurable to insert into tight spaces like the ass.

As an added plus, this plug is made from 100% medical grade platinum silicone which is nonporous, hypoallergenic and easily sterilized. You can boil it (3-5min), bleach it (10% solution) or run it through the dishwasher (top rack, no soap). Also, like all of my Tantus toys, the plug is perfectly smooth with no imperfections from the mold, awkward seams (or seams at all!) and no rough spots or irritating raised logos.

The Ryder was my first butt plug purchase, almost four years ago, and it still looks as smooth and shiny as the day I bought it. And while my lover and I have expanded our anal play repertoire—and toy collection—greatly in the intervening years, we still reach for the Ryder all the time.

While this plug’s rounded top doesn’t make quite as gradual an entry as some toys with a more pointed tip, the unintimidating girth of the Ryder makes it entirely reasonable to use this toy on an unwarmed up ass. A twenty minute car ride has me squirming in my seat. I think that for me the narrow neck is just a little bit too short for comfort while sitting on this plug.

I know that some reviewers on this site have reported experiences with this plug slipping—either all the way out, which is annoying, or all the way in, which is dangerous. While I would certainly advise you to take these warnings seriously, I can also tell you that neither my lover nor I has ever had a problem with either in the four years that we have been using this toy. For both of us it goes in easy and stays where we put it until we take it out.
