The Wartenberg Pinwheel (also goes by Wartenberg Wheel and Wartenberg neurowheel) was originally designed to test nerve sensitivity. Robert Wartenberg invented this device because he figured out that the points at the end of the wheel, being the same distance apart, could test to see if a patient had…yep, you guessed it, Wartenberg’s disease. This is also known as Wartenberg’s Syndrome, which is a radial nerve entrapment at the forearm and shows itself as an ulnar paralysis with the little finger being in a position of abduction. I do not show any signs on unlar paralysis or nerve entrapment in the forearm, or anywhere else for that matter, but this device is loved and used by many BDSMers for a little bit of fun torture. When used lightly it can tickle, which is a great way to get used to painful devices for the novice user. You or your partner would push a little harder on it as you get used to it, and eventually this device can be used for more advanced play. When pushed with some force, it can be a bit painful and leave marks, making it perfect for those who enjoy a bit of torture in their play. This is a fantastic sensory play item.

The Wartenberg Pinwheel is manufactured by The Stockroom and is a really great investment that will last a really long time due to the high quality of the materials used. The Wartenberg Pinwheel is made out of Stainless Steel and the handle is an ergonomic design, which can make playtime comfortable for the user, in turn, making playtime longer and more enjoyable for both (all?) partners. The Wartenberg Pinwheel is about 7 inches long all together, and the round head is about 1 inch in diameter. Each of the spikes are about 1/4 inch long and spaced about 1/6 inch apart.

I knew, when I first saw this device that I had to have it. I honestly didn't bother reading the reviews, because I didn't want to be talked out if it if they were not good. I am so glad that I made that decision! This is going to be a mainstay in my BDSM Lifestyle, and was far better than I expected it to be. I didn't have the expectation of this having the ability to tickle, but it really does. Tickling is more torturous to me than pain, so this works in all aspects.

This is stainless steel so cleanup is really easy and you have a bunch of options. If you have an autoclave, that is obviously the best one, but that is pretty pricey, and I for one, would not buy one unless I had a larger collection of stainless steel toys. You can use a 10% Bleach Solution or boil it as well.

Obviously if you are playing rough and using this for blood play, you will not want to share it with another person.

For storage, we just toss it in our love drawer, no special cases or anything are used. I do, however want to get a hardshell case for it, to protect the points, so I would suggest grabbing something like that for this as well.

There really is no packaging, it arrived in a ziplock-like bag, but being Stainless Steel, it didn't need much protection, so that was fine. Of course, with the bag being clear, it was not at all discreet, however, I have come to find that any packages that arrive at my house from "Web Merchants" are to automatically be brought into my room and opened there, so discreetness doesn't even matter anymore.

When used lightly, it is great for beginners looking for a new sensation, and it will last a really long time, so if you eventually get into hard play, this toy will still be available for use during tough sessions, all you do is add a little more pressure.

It is really hard to see, but in the middle of my arm, here, I rolled the pinwheel pretty hard. It didn’t break the skin, only left a line of indents. Actually, by the time I took the picture, uploaded it, and wrote this sentence, the marks were gone. They marks don’t even stay that long, and neither does the pain.

I enjoy having this run over my back and my arms, Master enjoys torturing me by using it lightly on my sides. I HATE being tickled….give me the pain anyday!
