Wartenburg Wheels are medical devices that were originally used to test for nerve response. However, they have been adopted (primarily by the kink community) for use in sensation play. This is a simple and fun way to add sensation play with your partner and requires only a few easy safety considerations. A Wartenburg Wheel is appropriate for beginners with common sense, it can also be use by more advanced players in conjunction with a violet wand.

This particular product is made of stainless steel and is of good quality. It has a satisfying weight in the hand and is easy to control. Because it is heavy for its size, it is important to be careful as to the amount of pressure that is applied. The handle is textured, which is both aesthetically appealing and helps to maintain grip on the wheel during use. The connections between the moving parts appear sturdy and do not seem that they will loosen with normal use. The shape and size are more or less standard on this kind of toy and the handle is sized to rest in the hand in a pleasing manner.

I tried this toy in a variety of contexts. First, my partner used it on me in two ways. He ran the wheel over my body and applied various levels of pressure. Some parts of the body were pretty straight-forward while others were squirm-inducing. More sensitive areas were under the breasts, nipples, inner thighs, and neck. As a second mode of use, he electrified the toy using indirect violet wand techniques. This added a whole new sense of excitement to use of the wheel. I will not cover violet wand application in detail, though, as it is probably of interest to only a minority of readers.

Because this item is made of stainless steel, it can be cared for quite easily. Clean it with any disinfecting surface cleaner or soap and water and store it in a clean, dry place. It is a pity that it doesn't come with any sort of storage sheath. That would make things much easier. However, it can be stored in the plastic bag it arrives in or perhaps wrapped in fabric or a paper towel. Take care to keep it somewhere that it is easy to see because if you bumped into it, unwrapped, in a crowded drawer, you could easily poke yourself. Take care to clean it between partners. While most users will not break the skin with it, you can pick up bacteria from the skin surface and push that into the skin of the next partner. You can soak this is rubbing alcohol or clean with a medical disinfectant like Cavicide.

The product came in a small plastic bag with no other packaging or instructions. The bag was already chewed up from the wheel upon arrival and will not likely last long.
