The Salsa is a clitoral vibrator by We-Vibe. It is small, quiet, and powerful. It is obviously intended for use on the outer parts of the body such as vulva, clitoris, penis, scrotum, nipples, etc. It is not intended for insertion either vaginally or anally.

The Salsa is made of a smooth, hard, odorless, tasteless, phthalate-free plastic. It is silky smooth sliding over Mrs. Lust's lady parts. The texture of the surface does not drag, so it can be used, if desired, without lube. However, a little lube is recommended simply to ensure that it does not catch. The texture is for both beginners and advanced users.

The Salsa is a "lipstick case" style clitoral vibrator. It is slender and light. I have average size fingers. It is roughly the width of my little finger, but the length of my index finger. The actual length is 3 1/2", and the diameter is 5/8". The circumference is 2". This is the perfect length for easy self play, as it is long enough that it can be easily held at the back end while the tip is being applied to the area to be stimulated. Due to its small size, it is very easily hidden and is discreet and suitable for travel.

We-Vibe makes great products. The company came on the scene originally with their ground-breaking We-Vibe partner toy, and have now branched off into other toys. The Salsa is their most recent. The controls are on the back end of the toy, so it is easy to adjust while using. The control is quite simple, as it is one button. The center has an easily felt bump. That is the on/off, as well as the pattern change. Push it once to turn it on, then cycle through the patterns to get back to off. If you press and hold the button for 2 seconds it will turn it off. Finally, when you turn the Salsa back on, it resumes the last vibration mode. A light near the push button flashes to the vibration pattern. Because We-Vibe designed the button at the very end, it is simple to change the pattern or intensity while in use, but at the same time it is unlikely that you will accidentally turn it off or change it. This is a positive design decision. On either side of the control button are two tiny metallic places. That is where the magnetic charger attaches to re-charge the Salsa.

The vibrations are located throughout the Salsa, as it is small and slender. However, it is slightly less strong if you hold it back at the back end. The Salsa is VERY quiet. For example, Mrs. Lust turned it on the other morning right beside me under the covers. Until she got to level 3, I could not hear it lying right beside her. As such, this toy can be used safely without anyone hearing it through a door.

The Salsa is waterproof, so it is safe for play in the tub, shower, or pool.

The Salsa is very easy to care for. Because it is made of a hard non-porous plastic (described by the company as "body-safe PC-ABS thermoplastic—the type of material used in toys that are safe for babies to chew on") it can be cleaned either with soap and water or a basic anti-bacterial toy cleaner. It can be used with any lube as far as we know.

Obviously, since the charger is not part of the toy, and is connected to the wall outlet for charging it should never be exposed to water.

Since the Salsa is so small, it can be stored in a pocket, purse, drawer. We keep ours in the special toy drawer I created for Mrs. Lust in her beside table so that it stays plugged in and re-charged all the time with our other re-chargeable or plug in toys.

Re-charging is simple. Simply line up the two metallic pins against the corresponding metal plates on the charge cap. Once they are in contact with each other, the charge cap has a light that will come on. Once the charge is complete, the light will go out. We-Vibe states that it is safe for the Salsa to remain on the charger at all times due to this auto-off function. This charge cap is the same one that is used on the Touch and the Tango, so if you have more than one, the chargers are inter-changeable.

The Salsa comes in an oddly shaped but attractive cardboard box identifying it as a We-Vibe Salsa. There are no "offensive" photos on the box, so unless someone started reading the fine print it would not jump out that it is a sex toy. Once the box is opened, the Salsa is inside a plastic holding frame, together with the charging cap and another cardboard box that holds the power cord. The box could be used to store the toy if you desire.

The Salsa comes with a nice instructional booklet describing how to charge the toy and how to turn it on and cycle through the programming.

Now to the good stuff. Mrs. Lust has been lusting for this toy for several months. We first saw it on display when we were out of town one weekend in a brick and mortar shop. The clerk brought it over to show to us, as she was excited because the toy had just come into the store. She simply turned it on, and let it sit in the palm of her hand. Two immediate points about the Salsa were instantly clear. First, this thing was powerful; it was bouncing around in the clerk's hand! Second, it was quiet; even though there was no conversation or other background noise at the time, we could hardly hear it! We wanted to buy it right then and there, but sadly they had not gotten any stock in. We eventually bought one (sadly about three weeks before EdenFantasys started carrying them). The Salsa comes in three classic simple colors: red, black and white. We got the black one.

I surprised Mrs. Lust by ordering it and simply putting the box on the bed without telling her anything. It was fun watching her eyes light up when she opened it. Sadly, since it is re-chargeable, we could not use it immediately. We set it up to charge and went to dinner. By the time we got back that evening, the Salsa was ready to dance and so was Mrs. Lust. (The Salsa takes 90 minutes to fully charge and supposedly will last two hours minutes on a charge. We haven't used it for two hours yet in a session, so we cannot verify that. We can say that it lasted for as long as we wanted it to.)

After some preliminary teasing, we turned on the Salsa and put it on the lowest steady vibration setting. (There are eight settings on the Salsa. The first four are steady vibrations: low, medium, high, and ultra high. There are then four variable patterns that We-Vibe calls tease, wave, pulse, and the cha-cha.) I put the Salsa on the lowest steady vibration, and gently ran the smooth plastic over Mrs. Lust's favorite pleasure parts. We both immediately noticed that the Salsa was just like we remembered it from the store. It was powerful and quiet. In fact, Mrs. Lust, who usually requires toys to be on highest power to reach orgasm, had no difficulty getting there with the lower two settings on the Salsa. The tip is nicely designed in a smooth rounded point to easily press against the clitoris under the clitoral hood without causing any discomfort.

One final note is in order. We already owned a We-Vibe Touch, which we have previously reviewed. We want to again state within this review that We-Vibe's customer service/warranty service is excellent. We had a problem with our first Touch, and We-Vibe's return/replacement service was excellent. It is notable when a company backs up its products and does so quickly and pleasantly.

The Salsa is truly a great clitoral vibrator. We-Vibe states that it was designed with a special motor that is more powerful than any other lipstick style vibrator currently on the market:

"Our specially designed vibrating motor is like no other in the world: it packs the deepest, most powerful rumble into a massager this small. Most other products use common, commercially available motors that were designed for things like cell phones and operate at annoying, unsatisfying high-pitched buzzing frequencies. Like all of our products, the vibration characteristics of the We-Vibe Tango and Salsa have been carefully tuned for the human body and provide the most stimulating, satisfying experience possible."

While we cannot verify that, we can state that it is the most powerful vibrator of its kind we have had. Its vibrations are rumbly, not buzzy.

We-Vibe also states that it is whisper quiet and we definitely agree with that as well. This toy really is quiet and can thus be used almost anywhere.
