I am a huge fan of
Liquid Silk for use during skin-on-skin play, but have never considered it thick or slippery enough for heavy-duty toy play. I have heard only good things about
Maximus, and decided it was time to give it a try. I am definitely glad I did.
Like Liquid Silk, Maximus is a water-based lubricant, so it is compatible with latex condoms and silicone toys. It is clear and odorless, with a vaguely sweet taste, though I would not advise ingesting it. It is much thicker than Liquid Silk, with an almost gel-like consistency, and comes in a handy pump-top bottle. It is thick and stays pretty well where you put it, but is not sticky or greasy feeling. It is quite slippery, and stays slippery while in use with little need to reapply, unless you are involved in a very long play session or are playing with sticky jelly or heavily textured toys.
It is true this lube virtually disappears after play and simply absorbs into your skin. This is an awesome quality, because it is also designed to help prevent yeast infections and the spread of bacteria; thus, it is great not to feel the immediate need to rush off to the shower the moment you end your play session.
Maximus actually left me feeling quite clean after use, and not sticky at all, which is fairly rare with many thicker lubes.
Maximus is thicker than I like for skin-on-skin intercourse with a partner, when just a light supplementation might be needed. It is, however, great for anal penetration, because it provides a much thicker and slipperier surface. I am just really starting to explore anal play, and I think this will be the lube that I will be using throughout. It is also going to be an absolute necessity with my silicone toys! It took a lot of searching, but I finally found a water-based toy lube I like as much as my
Climax H20, and that lives up to the expectations of the Liquid Silk line.
I'm really liking this lube the more I use it. It is incredibly slippery, clean-feeling, and not stringy at all. It is definitely a prime lube for use with toys! And it's healthy for you! I held off trying this one for a long time, but if you like to use toys, do yourself a favor and give this one a try! It's become my go-to

Great review. I purchased this lube along with others for evaluation and comparison. This one is definitely a winner.
It is glycerin-free, but I do believe it contains parabens. I am not particularly prone to yeast infections, but I am highly susceptible to lower UTI's. I do know that since switching almost exclusively to Maximus, though, I haven't had a problem with either. Hope this helps.
So is it glycerin and parabens free? You say that it prevents yeast infections... is this just what the product claims or have you or a yeast infection-prone friend tested this? The "slightly sweet" taste worries me a little.

It doesn't feel like a silicone lube, really--it's thicker than most I've tried, and feels "slippery" as opposed to "slick." It seems to last as long during play as a good silicone lube, though, without drying out or becoming sticky. If you're looking for something to use with your silicone toys, it's probably as good a lube as you're going to get, honestly.
How would you say the texture and consistency of Maximus compares to good quality Silicone lubes.
Thanks, NS! Keep in mind, I live in TX and it's June, so even hair gel doesn't really keep its shape here atm! I tried pumping a dollop into my hand. It rounded off, but it stayed quite well where I put it, even when I held my palm up vertically and when I turned it upside down. It's not QUITE as firm as a gel, but I definitely think it's closer to a gel consistency than a "lotion". Hope this helps!
Wow, it's great to know it helps prevent vaginal infections! Thats an excellent feature.
When you say it has a slighlty gel like consistency do you mean it is thick enough that when it pumps into you hand (or where ever) that it maintains the shape it had when exiting the bottle top like actual hair gel.?
