Ever forget your safe word, or confuse it with another word?

No, can't say that I have. I stick with 'Red' and I think that the fact that I keep it pretty simple helps. When you want 'out' of an intense situation (intense enough to safeword) you need a word that is simple enough to remember because you might have a million other emotions running through your mind.

I concur with SinDoll. I've forgotten silly/fun words in the heat of the moment, or used way too long words. It's not safe at all, so it becomes basically an unsafe word
If I used a similar enough word, my partners could read my tone/the look in my eyes, and recognize it's close enough to the real word. Ignoring that would be irresponsible and I wouldn't play with that dominant again. It's the responsibility of both parties....
But yeah, I use Yellow/Red. And sometimes Green if partners are uncertain if they should continue. Yellow is great, because you don't stop the flow of action, just slow it down to a doable level of intensity.
Forgetting safewords is no joke, scary stuff, been there.

I don't play with a heavy enough Top to need a safe word, but if I needed one it would likely be "mercy," something I would never otherwise need to ask for, so it's probably not very likely that I'd need it

No, I have never forgotten it, but I have been in a position where I couldn't speak, or move at all, and wondered what else I could do to get his attention just in case.

Its pretty rare that my husband goes too far, but I have forgotten it once. My husband is fairly in tune with me, so all I had to do was say stop firmly and he understood.

We have stuck with the red/yellow/green so far so not very easy to forget.
I guess if we were to change our safe word, then it would be more likely for either one of us to forget it.

I stick with the traffic light thing, hard to forget.
although, I love the word "lawsuit" for a safe word... just sayin...

I've never forgotten it. It's an inside joke with sentimental meaning and something that would never otherwise be said. We use it not just in BDSM situations but if one of us has taken a joke too far the other one can say the safe word and the joke ends.
