How long does a metal butt plug last? I'm guessing it should be replaced once a year or so.....

A good metal one should last longer than silicone or glass. Silicone can pick up odors. Glass can break if dropped from too high. Metal can be scratched. I like the Pure plug nJoy line. My first purchase from eden. Unfortunately they don't carry them any more. n Joys imo are the best. Nice shape, heavy you know it's presence. Easy to clean and store. Won't collect dust, lint etc like silicone.

I have 2 plus a Pure Wand. Lasted over 8 years. Comes in a nice box too. I think there's a review or 2 in our profile. From the reviews I think there's a lot of eden-nites that brought them.

Here's the review on the Large.

I also have the 2.0. That's larger and very very good. Sadly I didn't do a review on it before they discontinued them.

If you get a Stainless Steel plug it could out last your ass- depending on the quality of the alloy and getting proper care (keep dry and don't bag it in a ziplock- it needs to be exposed to oxygen or they can get rust spots.) I'm not sure if EF is offering much in stainless, but I love my toys made of that material. I have not had one silicone, glass, or stainless plug that has ever needed to be replaced.

Aluminum has become more prevalent in the toy scene, because it is cheaper to make and cheaper for the consumer. The anodized exterior will chip and delaminate over time. I got a set that lasted about a year or two- and that was with light use. Not a bad way to go as you test the waters and figure out what you really want to invest. Plus depending on the consistency of your anal training you may outgrow plugs fairly quickly.
