Every Silver Lining . . .

Though unassuming and quiet, do not be surprised if you try the Sasha Grey Swell and find that, as the song says, it "kind of suits you anyway". This dildo is serious perhaps because it is so seriously good at what it does. Whether you are investing in your first glass dildo or adding something different, you won't go wrong here. I was amazed at just how good the Swell felt. Add this to the ease of use of a glass toy, and you have a winner.

Use

This glass dildo is equally suitable for vaginal or anal play. The lack of texturing except for gentle swells would make it an ideal starting place for a beginner, yet even as a more experienced user I was surprisingly not underwhelmed. Glass toys are easy to sanitize and lend themselves well to temperature play. As a travel partner the Swell will not attract attention in security due to the lack of metal parts. As with all glass dildos the material is unforgiving and care should be taken not to bruise the cervix which is located at the end or top of the vagina.

Material / Texture

The Swell is made of borosilicate glass which I learned, thanks to Google, is the same material used in European (but not American) Pyrex products. Due to the nature of glass there is no smell or stickiness to this toy. There are also no incompatible lubricants and no worries about storing this completely non-porous toy with others, all good reasons to add a glass toy to your collection. Care should be taken as stated above, glass is rigid and not forgiving.

Design / Shape / Size

I'm a sucker for good design and an attractive toy. The Swell is perfectly sleek, unintimidating and friendly while still managing to take itself quite seriously. The 8 inch length (6 1/2 inch insertible according to the description) is just about perfect - plenty of room to play without being silly or cumbersome. With a nice 5 inch circumference there is no reason to avoid this dildo if you or your partner are inexperienced yet it delivers just as beautifully for more experienced users. If a dildo design was ever gracious and giving this is it.

Performance

As the happy owner of glass dildos with much more aggressive texture, I did not expect any surprises from the Swell, and maybe even expected to be a bit bored. This was not the case! The gradual wave like ripples in the Swell combined with the silky smoothness of the toy are more effective than I could have imagined while the more bulbous end serves as an effective handle or can provide more adventurous play if you desire. There's a certain something about the lack of overt texture and the perfect smoothness of glass that stimulated my g-spot quite perfectly and, from feedback, had the same effect for my partner. Glass toys are especially nice for temperature play - try setting the Swell in a glass of hot water for several minutes before use or warming it up in your mouth for an added spectrum of sensations. Always be careful to test the temperature before insertion.

Care and Maintenance

One of my favorite features of glass link toys is the ease of care. Wash with a ph friendly toy cleaner, warm soap and water, or toss it in the dishwasher to sanitize. This toy is compatible with your choice of lube and can be stored with other toys making things so very simple for the user.

Packaging

The Swell is beautifully packaged making it very appropriate for gift giving. The box is dark and dignified with tone on tone pictures of Sasha Grey on the side panels. The back of the box includes a succinct summary of the toy nestled inside in fitted foam. Just taking this dildo out of the box feels a bit special and indulgent. The box continues to work nicely for storage after opening.
