She's sophisticated fun

The Sasha Grey wand looks simple, sexy and unassuming, but it is so powerful. The combination of rigid glass, gentle swells along the shaft and a bulbous head add up to a really satisfying shape. The size is accessible for beginners and middle-of-the-road for advanced users. Like Sasha herself, the dildo is beautiful and made to play hard.
Smooth, slender for beginners, bumps feel good inside
No G-spot curve, no added texture

extremely useful review

This dildo is simplicity made sexy. It is comfortably slender, and the swells along the shaft give some textural interest. The bulbed end can be used as a handle, or can be inserted for a little more filling girth. Because it's very straight with no type of curve or angled head, some people might find the toy less than ideal for G-spot stimulation, but I found enough G-spot action just by angling the toy inside me.

One of the most exciting uses for this toy is temperature play. Placing the dildo in hot or cold water before using it will give unique sensations. Make sure not to change suddenly from hot to cold temperatures or vice versa, though, because this could crack the glass. Always test the temperature of the warmed or cooled wand on your inner forearm to ensure the temperature isn't too intense for insertion.

The Sasha Grey wand can be used solo or with a partner. The glass is hard and unforgiving, so be careful when thrusting it to avoid bruising your cervix. If your partner is the one manipulating the toy, or you are thrusting the toy inside of them, good communication is important for preventing damage to the cervix. Additionally, I would not say this toy is anal-safe because there is no flared base, and the bulb on the end is not pronounced enough to act as a flare. But anyone with a vagina is good to go!

Material / Texture

The Sasha Grey wand is made of borosilicate glass, the same material as Pyrex cookware. Borosilicate glass can withstand high and low temperatures, is durable and shatterproof, and is designed to crack into large pieces if it does happen to break. The material rates 10 out of 10 on EdenFantasys' safety scale because it is non-porous, body-safe, and can easily be sterilized. It is also compatible with any type of lubricant.

I really enjoyed the smooth glass texture of this toy. This was my first glass toy, and I really was not expecting the hard glass to feel so good inside. Because there is no flexibility in the bumps along the shaft, they gave me a nice stretching sensation as they entered. The whole wand feels smooth, heavy, and filling inside. The smallest touch of lube (or spit, if you're poor like me) is enough to make the glass slick and easy to insert. Someone who is more experienced with glass toys might get bored because there are no nubs or ribs, but I thought the swells were an interesting texture on their own.

Design / Shape / Size

I am in love with the look and feel of this toy; the way the form and function are blended together. It is so sleek and sophisticated-looking, and at the same time the shape is pleasurable. The black glass is dark and shiny and luxurious-looking.

Size comparison- pen

Size detail

Pictured above are some references for the size. At 8 inches, this is a relatively long dildo, mostly due to its two distinct ends. I found the thinner end very comfortable for warming up, and the bulbous end was nicer for more intense stimulation. The bulb on the end has a 5-inch circumference, which is relatively girthy for beginners, but might be too small for size queens. It was just right for me.

I am also pleased with the discreet look of the Sasha Grey wand. It is not realistic at all, and not phallic either. I don't immediately think, "Oh, that's a dildo!" when I see it, but maybe that's just me. Either way, this toy is not likely to bother anyone in a shared living situation if you happen to leave it out. This also makes it suitable for travel.

    • Discreet look/design

In my opinion, the Sasha Grey wand performs best when used solo, or as a warm-up for penetrative sex with a partner. Because it's hard glass, it works better for slow, sensual play than for hard or fast thrusting. Though I haven't tried warming or cooling it yet, the potential for temperature play is a definite strength.

I'm a g-spot fiend, so I would prefer a bit more of a curve in my toys. However, I was really satisfied with the Sasha Grey wand, mostly because the bulbed end provided enough pressure on my g-spot. People who like texture might find this toy a little boring because it is so smooth.

Care and Maintenance

Glass dildos are very easy to care for. Glass is non-porous, so it can be cleaned with plain soap and water, a cleaning wipe, or a 10% bleach solution. It can also be boiled to be sterilized. As a general rule, this toy should be sterilized between partners.

Glass is also compatible with any type of lubricant, so feel free to use water-based, silicone-based, or oil lubes with it.

Even though borosilicate glass is designed to be difficult to break, I am still paranoid about glass breaking, so I store the Sasha Grey wand in a padded sleeve. I would recommend padded storage, but it is probably fine without padding as well.
    • Easy to clean

The toy is packaged in a dark grey box featuring black-and-white images of Sasha Grey on the sides. It's possible someone could see the front of the box and not understand that it was a dildo, but the packaging is really not very discreet.

Package front

The dildo itself was encased in two molded pieces of grey foam. The original packaging could be used for storage, as the foam provides a nice cushion to prevent the toy from getting bumped around. I made a padded sleeve out of the foam from the packaging and an old pair of tights, but any type of padded storage should do the trick.

Personal comments

I can see myself using this toy for years to come (pun not intended). Masturbating with it was so easy and sensual, and when I angled the bulbed end upward it worked well for G-spot stimulation. It has a filling weight with a smooth feeling inside, and I love feeling the swells stretching me slightly. I am looking forward to using it with a partner and experimenting with different temperatures. Altogether, this is a wonderful first glass toy for me.

Nice review, thank you! The Icicles #8 dildo is similar to this also, but it's been out of stock for quite awhile.
