Massaging His Troubles Away
Rarely have I ever bought Sigel a gift that left him near speechless with delight. The Wahl All-Body Massager left him pain free for the first time in years. While this isn't my usual choice for toys I hoped that a massager might be able to do what hand power couldn't, and it did the trick. The box states that this brand has been used by professionals since 1919!Published: November 29, 2010
Pros:
Small size, numerous attachments, no need for batteries, vigorous speeds
Cons:
Requires an electrical outlet, not waterproof
The WAHL is a 2 speed all body massager with 7 attachments and a fully grounded electric cord. The cord makes sure you never have to stop a masssage because your batteries have run out, which is great if you have chronic pain like Sigel. The WAHL can help to increase circulation to the skin and muscles and relieve pain and fatigue.
The massager is made of lightweight plastic and the attachments are made of PVC plastic. All of the metal bits are inside the massager except for the screws which are deeply shielded making sure body fluids or the occasional drop or two of water won't cause them to rust. This is pretty common for WAHL products, which are all very well made and last for quite a long while with good care. I've had a pair of WAHL clippers for over 20 years and they have never needed sharpening or any other type of work. I expect this massager to be superior quality and to last for quite a while without major maintenance.
The massager is industrial grey in color with a black cord and off white attachments. The body of the massager is about 8 inches tall and about 3 inches wide without attachments. It weighs about 2 lbs which makes this a substantial toy but not one that will cause your wrists or arms to ache while using it. The speeds are vigorous and completely different; the first speed is light and feels almost like a TENS Unit to the nerves. That isn't to say that it puts out electric charges just that the vibration tingles on the nerves similarly to what electro-stim does. The second speed is much heavier and thumps, it reaches deep into the muscles and relaxes the tight knots easily and totally. The best thing about the second speed is it relaxes the muscles without any resulting bruising or soreness that can happen with deep tissue massage.
The attachments are varied and serve many uses. They attach easily by just sliding onto the plastic vibrating arm in the nozzle of the massager. There are 7 attachments, according to the included pamphlet:
* Knuckle joint attachment- it is pyramid shaped and is great for getting into nooks and crannies on the hands and feet. The smooth sides can follow the contour of the foot allowing deep tissue massage to the heels. The tip of this attachment feels great run over the nipples and clitoris!
* Muscle kneading attachment- square shaped with 4 ripples it delivers deep muscle massage. It is also amazing for wrists who have undergone carpal tunnel surgery. It makes buttock massage easy and relaxes the muscles so well it can send you straight to sleep.
* General body attachment- a small cup like attachment that provides all over massage. This attachment can bring blood to the surface easily and relax deeply knotted muscles. Cupping the nipples is an indescribable sensation that I fully recommend!
* Scalp stimulator- this round attachment has three rows of nubs that stimulate deeply and leaves the scalp tingling. Scalp massage can help hair growth by bringing much needed blood to the surface and nourishing the hair follicles. It helps dislodge stubborn dandruff and relaxes tense muscles. It also feels great run lightly over tight shoulder muscles, and anywhere well padded as it is quite forceful.
* Facial vitalizer- this massager does it all! The pamphlet recommends you add cold cream or lotion to the face before using this attachment. Keep the massager away from the eyes.
* Deep muscle stimulator- this attachment has a raised nub surrounded by a ring. It deeply relieves sore muscles and can be an excellent clitoral stimulator.
* Spot applicator- for intense pinpoint massage in small areas such as the temples, back of the neck, and heels.
We found that a light film of massage oil makes the attachments glide over the surface of the skin and diffuses the vibrations much more pleasurably. The oil also prevents the skin from stretching and feeling 'burned' after the massage. PVC can react to some oils but I have found that washing the attachment as soon as you are finished in hot soapy water keeps the attachments in perfect working order. The massager itself wipes clean with a damp cloth or commercial toy wipe.

Experience
If you use this on your calves please be sure you aren't experiencing more than just muscle pain. Unexplained leg pain can be caused by a deep vein thombosis (blood clot) which deep tissue massage can dislodge possibly leading to a stroke or heart attack. If you have an area of pain that is raised, red or feels feverish see a doctor before using a massager just to be on the safe side.
This massager is definitely not waterproof so please don't use it in the tub or shower! While this might seem like a downside, the massager is so good for both sensual and erotic massage that we didn't miss not being able to take it in the shower with us.
The massager stores easily in it's original packaging, just be careful not to tear the box when you open it! The attachments fit in a plastic zip lock bag and the massager has a nice bag of bubble wrap to keep it from getting banged up. There is a comprehensive pamphlet describing all of the attachments, some warnings about when and where to use the massager, and an address to send the massager should it need repairing. This massager comes with a 2 year limited waranty.
After using this massager on Sigel for well over two hours it started to heat up and we turned it off to let it cool down. Sigel was a quivering mass of jelly for a few mintues but when he stood up he realized that he didn't have any pain in his knees, feet or arms. He stood there for a few minutes sort of stunned that he was pain free without drugs.

Follow-up commentary

I wish I could put 'I still LOVE it'! This is much too vigorous for my genitals but my muscles crave it. When I started the P90 workouts I used this machine to loosen the leg muscles and muscles in my back. I never have woken up too sore to move like before I had the WAHL. I still recommend this machine to anyone who asks about a massager...the fact that it is also a great vibrator for those lovely clit-o-steels ladies is a bonus!

wahl for someone who needs to be discreet?
-
i'm considering giving my partner some special gifts for her birthday next year and introducing her to toys (she's not nearly as adventurous as i am.) i want a classic vibrator for her so that she can familiarize herself with what she likes, and the wahl massager looks pretty perfect for that.
her bedroom is upstairs in an old house and i'm wondering if, from anyone who has experience with the massager; it could be heard downstairs when being used in an upstairs room. i don't have any way to test with toys of my own, as my house is very different from hers and we're rather long-distance right now. i want to gift her something awesome, not something that could lead to an awkward situation with her family )8
any experiences with the noise the wahl makes would be appreciated! the same goes for other classic/versatile vibrators. thanks! -

If she is unfamiliar with toys, however, this may be too strong. Although not as quiet, a kit like this may be less intimidating. That aside, I LOVE my Wahl and think every woman should own one so it's now or later for your partner : )

yeah, the power may prove too much for her. i know she has sensitivity problems like i do (where she needs a LOT of stimulation) but i don't know what her definition of 'strong' vs 'too strong' would be, especially only having used her hands before!
the beginner kit looks ideal, but she has a really limited cashflow and keeping it in batteries would be hard :( maybe i'll surprise her with a mia instead? it's rechargeable, and while it's not as versatile as an insertable it would probably be way less intimidating than the wahl for now :D

Which Wahl Massager is best?
-
I haven't seen any comparison threads yet. Which one is the most powerful? Which one has the best features?

Quote: I haven't seen any comparison threads yet. Which one is the most powerful? Which one has the best features?i don't own any of these (although i'll probably collect them in the future :P) but from what i understand they're all about equal power; but the wands are more concentrated and loud.

I find the Whal two speed is best for one reason, the pounding high setting which is the best I've experienced. I haven't found any other vibrator with the same vibration frequency and including the other Whals.

Good Vibrations
-
I'm done with the battery scene and looking for something more substantial but I want a vibrator with the right type of vibrations. One review said this product had a "buzzy" setting opposed to the Hitachi with deep throbbing vibrations. What are other comments on they type of vibrations this massager has? Living in a dorm, I need a more quit toy than the Hitachi but would also prefer the deep vibes. Thanks very much for the input

Thanks very much for the inputI have not used the hitachi, so I can't compare, but I would describe this one as "buzzy".
It is quiet when muffled but I still wouldn't use it with a roommate in the room! I would look into the Mystic Wand as well before I made a purchase. Or one of the Fairy Massagers. Good luck! -

I don't know about the type of vibrations, but again I have heard/read very positive thing regarding the wanachi, mystic wand, and fairy products!

Material of attachments
-
It seems no one is concerned about the Pthalates in the PVC attachments for this thing (material safety 2). Am I missing something?
-
That's a good question.
I think it's because the attachments are designed for external use only.
:) -
Quote: That's a good question.Well yeah it not designed for "special areas" but if you use it down there it seems like it would be 'unsafe'...? If its just being used on the clitoris and surrounding areas it would still touching porous tissue. I'm just curious since no one mentioned it in their review

Thank you for viewing Wahl 2-Speed massager kit – sex toy review page!

Um, can I volunteer for the next 2 hour massage test period? Nice review, you always seem to have some unique tidbit of information that I wouldn't think of like the blood clot info.
I have scheduled myself as the next test subject Seriously though this was an incredible find for us...thanks P'Gell!
Sounds like a great massager! Adding it to my wishlist so that I can choose a massager. Thanks for the great review!
I like how you chose to write this review. I've had this on my wishlist for a while.
That's awesome that he was pain free without meds. I should get this for my dad.
Great review. I'm still not sold on the Wahl, but I'm glad it worked great for you guys.
Great review! I have this and D prefers it, but I myself prefer the Infrared Massager
You're welcome, Airen! (I'm like the Wahl Tour Guide.)
My Man makes noises when I massage him with this that I rarely get out of him during sex.
I'm so glad it was able to help Sigel's Chronic Pain. Also, thank you for mentioning DVT!
Now, use the Muscle Kneading Attachment, the Pinpoint or the Scalp Attachment along with a penetrative dil on yourself, and report back to Nurse P'Gell.
You really do know how to write a great review Airen!
I might look into getting one of these, I am hoping it may help with my jaw pain. The muscle on my right side where the jaw hing is hurts very bad lately. I thought it might have been TMJ (which it still could be) or a Joint dislocation, but I found when I massage the area with my fingers it relieves the pain very well. Do you think this would help? I know you are not a doctor (actually by reading your review, it seems like you just might be , very very informative) but I was wondering if you felt that this could massage this area.
Its right near the check where the jaw bone connects with the skull.
Wow, I really need to get this. Great review.
@P'Gell will do!
@Viktor if you use the facial attachment and some good lotion I don't think it could hurt. When you do massage the area massage a wide area fromt he back of the neck to the top of your head (not the front of the neck that could damage veins there). Use one of the pointed ones on the temples as well and it will sort of blitz the area and could provide some real relief. Also massage on low not high.
Thanks Airen Wolf for the info
Excuse me but Airen's reviews are very insightful and informative. She is actually a REAL reviewer and does it damn good. I'd appreciate it if you'd quit using double accounts, quit writing useless reviews on products you don't own, and leave Airen the hell alone.
thanks for the review
