I think Astroglide is probably the 2nd most well known lubricant, following only after KY. You can find it just about everywhere. It’s simple, it’s easy, but it’s only mediocre. Honestly, I think my favorite part of the product is the name.

Astroglide is a lubricant that can be used to aid masturbation, sex and anal sex. It is water-based, meaning it is safe for your body, toys and condoms. Unlike a silicone lubricant, that will eventually break down your silicone toys, a water based lubricant like Astroglide is safe with most type of toys. Beware, Astroglide can decrease the effectiveness of spermicidal products.

Ingredients: Water (Purified), Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Polyquaternium 15, Methylparaben and Propylparaben. Some people have adverse reactions to Glycerin. If you have had a problem with Glycerin before, I do not advise using this product.

Apply a little bit of Astroglide to the intended area with your hand. It mimics body fluids, so it is slippery. The consistency makes it easy to put too much on. Unfortunately, because it is a water-based lubricant the product needs to be rejuvenated after some time. Try adding a little water to jump start the product. If too much lubricant is applied it can become sticky.

Astroglide is odorless and non-staining. It is also water-soluble which makes it very easy to clean up. It comes off the skin with the use of soap and water. To clean the product off your toys, you can use antibacterial soap and water or toy cleaner.

My biggest complaint about Astroglide is the bottle. It was poorly designed and if you leave it on its side, it leaks. The top is not a tight seal and it allows the product to escape the bottle. It drives me crazy when I open my toy box and find that my Astroglide has fallen over and my toys all have to be cleaned. Talk about a mood killer.

Personally, I prefer using Astroglide for anal play. It works fine for vaginal play, but there are much better products on the market I prefer to use. Anally, Astroglide is great. It is something I’ve been using for a very long time and because it is easily accessible and the inexpensive, it’s something I’ll continue using anally.
