Astroglide - lubricant discontinued by BioFilm - review by MrClark

This and K-Y Jelly are I think the two most well known lubes on the market. It was one of the first lubes I used when trying various lubes over the years and for certain uses is a lube I return to using due to how successful Astroglide is in these uses.

So firstly, Astroglide definitely works and lasts a moderate amount of time for a water based lubes. Definitely better than most but worse than some others.

It is reasonably easy to use for masturbation with your hand and doesn't require a lot to get the job done, but might require reapplication if you go on for a while. I've used it with Fleshlights; however, I've found it less successful in this use case as the liquid doesn't stay put very well and leads to significant need of reapplication and lube going everywhere but where I wanted it. Now interestingly as it is thinner when applied than some jelly based lubes I typically use with a Fleshlight, I currently have a bottle to use with a toy I'm oversized for as it's the only way I can get decent glide with the toy and would have to reapply regularly regardless of the lube used.

This Astroglide product is a liquid and doesn't work well for me in the case of use during sex, be it vaginal or anal as it's hard to apply during the act, goes everywhere, and doesn't stay put. This is definitely problematic for anal sex as I want the lube to go on the sphincter or in the rectum and stay there to insure comfort for myself or my partner during anal play. Also as this product has synthetic Glycerin and Parabens this leads to me not wanting to use it internally on myself or my partner. I have seen no real research on the safety of these chemicals for use on internal lube applications; however, if there is a possible risk I would rather not take it.
