Glides you into home base...
If you want a basic, all around good lube for vaginal and occasional anal sex, Astroglide is the way to go. If you're into larger insertion or long sessions - pick a more long lasting lube.Published: July 20, 2011
Pros:
Easy to apply and use, good with condoms.
Cons:
Contains glycerin, not super lasting.
Many people who are just starting out trying "new" and interesting sexual experiences will look for a lube to ease the way. This goes doubly for those just trying anal, and for many, the first lube they'll grab is Astroglide. It's reasonably cheap, available in most superstores and drugstores, and well... it's slippery. Better than stealing your mother's olive oil or Vaseline for experimentation.
If you need something quick and want to use an easily available product, I definitely recommend Astroglide. You will have a decent experience... it's slick enough for short rides in the front or back and works with condoms to make sure you're safe. Both latex and non-latex condoms are much more comfortable with a few drops. But if you're trying for something that's... larger in size, or for extended sex sessions, you might want something else. The thinner consistency of Astroglide doesn't stand up to a gel or butter, when used in conjunction with anal sex, or with large anal insertion.
Astroglide is water-soluble which means easy clean up and no bed sheet stains, and it's compatible with silicone toys. It's easy to apply, and for most vaginal encounters, you won't need more than a few drops to keep you going. It does have glycerin, so be aware if you're yeast infection prone and using it for vaginal lube - it could be an issue. There are other varieties without the glycerin, although they're not as tried-and-true as the original. Not exactly odor-free, it does have a smell you can recognize, but pretty near scentless. Smaller containers such as the 2.5 oz can make it through the airport screening process without an issue - meaning you won't have to chuck your large bottle of slippery stuff before boarding. Overall, a pretty great deal for the price.

Follow-up commentary

There are really much better lubes out there. While Astroglide is fine if you're unable to find any other water-based lube in a drug store, you'll probably be better off ordering a different lube if you've got a good selection. This lube is just not durable enough for prolonged sessions or bigger toys.

Astroglide is a great choice for first time personal lubricant buyer! It can last very long.

Life004This was my first lubricant and after buying numbers of other brands, I still look back at this brand, they can truly last when it comes to playing with any masturbation toys. -
Ok? Glad you like it.

Favorite lube?

I absolutely think astroglide is the best all-around lube on the market. Let me know what you think.

Quote: I absolutely think astroglide is the best all-around lube on the market. Let me know what you think.I would definitely agree with you there! I always used to use different KY ones and the occasional one from different surprise-party type companies, but there was always something about them that I hated. Finally I was introduced to astroglide and haven't used anything else since :D

Astroglide is ok, but I find it doesn't work that well for anal sex. I use Maximus for that, as I am naturally a wet person, and don't really need lube for anything else.

98 Reviews? Are You Serious???

Can you believe there are 98 reviews on Astroglide? I was just browsing through lubes and thought I might find a good one to review, and I saw that it had 98!!! No kidding, check the page! What do you think of this, folks? Are you as surprised as me?

Most likely because reviewers starting out have to review cheaper items first. I'd guess that lubes and massage balms/oils would be many reviewers' first picks since they'd want to buy the stuff anyway. :P

A lot of people use Astroglide, so it doesn't surprise me. I reviewed it myself :)
