Absolutely Heavenly
Liquid Silk definitely is true to its name. It's light, slick, and super smooth, not to mention long-lasting. It's not what I had grown to expect from some water-based lubes.Published: April 7, 2008
Pros:
Long lasting, not sticky, lightweight, glycerin-free, prevents the spreading of bacteria.
Cons:
It tastes pretty bad.
I cannot say enough good things about Liquid Silk.
This lube was recommended to me by a friend of mine one day, and I have to say that I was a little bit skeptical. Afterall, the lube wasn't clear--in fact, in the bottle it kind of looked like lotion. I envisioned a super thick, sticky mess. Nonetheless, out of curiosity I decided to try out Liquid Silk.
Oh my.
Was I ever wrong. Liquid Silk definitely is true to its name. It's light, slick, and super smooth, not to mention long-lasting. It's not what I had grown to expect from some water-based lubes. It's actually thinner than lotion, despite its appearance in the bottle, bearing more similarities to a woman's own natural lubrication and it doesn't dry out quickly. For longer sessions you may have to reapply once, but probably not more than that.
The after effects are similar. Some lubes have left me wanting to rush straight to the shower to rinse, but with Liquid Silk it's certainly possible to forget that you even used lube. Another thing that I didn't know until after I bought it was that Liquid Silk actually helps to protect you and your partner from spreading bacteria back and forth to each other, which is especially handy if either of you are prone to yeast- or other bacterial infections.
I love that this lube is so economical, too. It's at about the same price per ounce as what I consider to be lower quality lubes, like Astroglide, but it is a much better product in my opinion.
My only one complaint, which is a very minor one, is that the lube does not have a very pleasant taste. In fact, it tastes pretty horrible. If you're going to have oral sex, I would suggest doing it before applying the lube rather than after. All in all I give Liquid Silk five stars for being an overall wonderful lubricant.

I can't believe how long just a small bottle has lasted. A small amount goes such a long way, so really the overall value seems to top that of cheaper, lower quality lubricants. I continue to recommend this lube to everyone I know.

Liquid Silk and Silicone Toys
-
So, while looking through highly rated water based lubes, I came across Liquid Silk. Aside from the bitter taste, no one seems to have any complaints.
However, I noticed that the fourth ingredient is Dimethicone - and I was wondering what everyone's experience with this and silicone sex toys was? Is the silicone in Liquid Silk a small enough portion that it has no effect on toys, or is it generally not recommended for that type of play?
Or does the bonding potential of silicone lubes have more to do with the type/quality of silicone than anything else? -
That's a really good question because Dimethicone is a silicone.
Basically it should be ok to use as long as the toy is made of medical grade silicone. There should, in theory, be no reaction. I, personally, wouldn't want to test that out on my own toys though. You can do a patch test on a small part of the toy. The reaction should be immediate if there is going to be one.
Anyone else know about this? -
I have had liquid silk react to a silicone toy. Which sucks because I love it. :(

Great review! I love this product as well, and you covered all it's wonderful qualities!
Why thank you! :)
What's in the ingredients to account for the bad taste?
I'm not really sure. I wonder though!
