Performs well, but not what I'm looking for in Lube, as far as ingredients go.

I thought that this lube quite performed well (as described), but I chose to dump out the remaining lube once I found out that it contains parabens. I know I'm exposed to many things every day that can cause health problems and cancer, but I figure why add another thing to the mix that I can easily avoid? It's not worth it to me, when there are vegan, pthalate-free, paraben-free lubes in the same price range.

Use

This is a water-based lube, so it's safe for use with silicone toys. I used it for vaginal penetration with toys; I'm sure it would work just fine for anal (although I know there are lubes specifically for that out there). I also used it to ease the way for going up a size in gauging my ears, but that's a bonus use.

I chose this lube because it is silky, moisturizing, non-tacky and glycerin free. All of these things proved true, but it does contain parabens (which studies suggest can cause allergic reactions and possibly breast cancer/cancers that affect women).

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Being that this is my first lube purchase, I don't have anything to compare it to. I didn't find it overly thick, or super runny. It's not thick like aloe gel. Although, it's thin enough to run, it didn't drip all over the place (if you use a lot of lube, it might drip off if you pump it all onto the toy at once, but if you put it in your hand and spread it on it should be fine). I found the thickness to be just right. It felt smooth and silky, not greasy at all. I love the pump bottle; it makes for easy use and application.

Taste / Aroma

I didn't notice a distinct smell, but it didn't taste very good. I personally didn't taste it, but I jokingly pretended to squirt it into my girlfriend's mouth and she opened wide, so I gave her a mouthful. She didn't enjoy it very much. She told me it tasted bad, like plastic and chemicals. So although it is unflavored, I wouldn't recommend drinking it for fun. You also might want to wipe it off with a washcloth or something before oral, if the taste of chemicals/lube bothers you.

Performance

The bottle it comes in has a pump which I really liked. I could squirt out just a little or a lot depending on what I wanted. I didn't have to handle the bottle, just use my thumb to push while holding my hand underneath, which makes it easy to avoid getting the bottle covered in lube and slippery. Even if it did get on the bottle, it's water-based and would be easy to wipe off/clean with a wet-wipe, paper towel, or washcloth.

The lube itself also performed well. I didn't have to use very much, not even half a pump. I would use it to lightly coat a toy before use to get going, and after that I didn't generally need to re-apply. I don't know if it's because I used it rather sparingly (as I didn't need to use a whole lot of it), or if I didn't use it that often, but the 8.25 oz bottle lasted me a year. It wasn't even all the way used up when I tossed it out.

Cleaning up after was easy, soap and water on the toys and a damp washcloth for me. It didn't dry tacky or feel noticeably gross/uncomfortable after use. This lube is white colored, and kind of opaque. It wasn't that noticeable when applied to toys, but it dried on them white-ish. But, as I said, cleaning up is easy!

Personal comments

So, this was my first ever lube purchase. I didn't know much about ingredients of lube, and picked this one because it said that it was glycerin free and non-tacky. Even though this lube is white (which I didn't really like the idea of), I decided it would be a fair trade-off for something silky that doesn't get sticky. After using it for a year, I decided that our next lube would be clear. I could live with it being white, but if you're at all put off by your lube being colored (and looking a bit like jizz, although I've never encountered any in real life), you might want to pass on this lube and find one that isn't colored.

In shopping for a new lube to try, I discovered parabens, and that this particular lube contains them. I did a little googling and found out that parabens are used in a lot of skin care products, tooth paste, lubes, etc, because they prevent the growth of bacteria and therefore give the product a longer shelf life. For the most part, they've been considered safe for use, but recently, studies have been done that link them to allergic reactions and even breast cancer.

I'm sure a lot of people know about this but aren't worried about it and will continue to use lubes that contain parabens anyway. That's fine, but I felt the need to include this in my review because if had I known, I wouldn't have been using this lube for an entire year (or at all, for that matter). Since becoming interested in sex toys, and sex products, I've discovered more about health and safety in regards to them. Things like silicone being the safest material, but my first jelly vibe? Not so much. I think it's a wonderful thing to be conscious of what products I'm using, and what materials/ingredients I'm putting in my body. Regardless of whether or not you are bothered by it, I think that everyone should be aware of these things and then make an informed decision on what products they choose to use.

I dumped out the rest of this lube, but I thoroughly washed out the bottle, so I can use it for other lubes (since many come in snap-top kind of bottle, which I don't like). I've done a bit of research and settled on a vegan, paraben, glycerin-free lube.
Follow-up commentary
Although I still don't like this product (since I wouldn't buy it again), it did perform very well. I think that maybe I shouldn't have thrown out the rest - to save money. When you think about it, most people are exposed to many unhealthy substances each day, so one bottle of lube containing parabens probably wouldn't have made a difference. However, I'll continue to avoid them in future lube purchases to play it safe.
