Silky Smooth

While Liquid Silk does perform quite well, I do not recommend it for anyone who has sensitive skin or is prone to UTIs. Additionally, if you are concerned about parabens, you'll want to steer clear of this product. Personally, I think there are better products on the market with less harmful ingredients (many of which are also better priced).

Use

Liquid Silk is a water-based lubricant that can be used for a variety of purposes. Whether you're playing with a partner or flying solo, this lube is smooth and long-lasting. It can be used on the genital regions, as well as anally. Additionally, although not designed for massage, I find Liquid Silk to feel amazing when rubbed into my aching muscles.

Regardless of it's versatility, it is important to look at the ingredients before you decide whether or not you want to purchase this product.

Ingredients:
Highly Purified Water, Propylene Glycol, Isopropyl Palmitate, Dimethicone, Cellulose Polymer, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate NSE, B.N.P.D, Di Sodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Methyl Paraben, Butyl Paraben, Ethyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, BHT

Many people are concerned with products that contain parabens and, thus, choose not to use them. The reason is that studies have linked the parabens to cancer. It is important to note that the studies cannot prove whether parabens actually lead to cancer. At this point in time, the FDA does not feel that there is sufficient evidence to prohibit the use of parabens.

Liquid Silk also contains glycerin. While glycerin is not necessarily harmful, it can be linked to UTIs for some people. Personally, I am prone to UTIs and try to avoid products with glycerin at all costs. However, when my boyfriend first purchased this lube, he did not know the concerns with the ingredient. I used it at least a dozen times and did not have an issue. I read the ingredients afterwards and have chosen to stay away from it in the future.

Bottom line: It's a good lube, but please be careful if you have sensitive skin or are prone to UTIs.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The name of the product accurately describes the consistency of this lubricant: it is a bit watery, yet slick and smooth.

When pumped from the bottle, the lubricant is a creamy white color, which reminds me of male ejaculation. From my point of view, that's a bit of a turn off, but I can get over it if the product is worth it. What I didn't like was how quickly this lubricant started to slide off my of hands and run between my fingers. I wasn't surprised per se, since many water-based lubes are runny; however, I was a bit bummed.

On the plus side, a little bit of Liquid Silk goes a long way. It is easy to spread out and it lasts for quite awhile. Even within an hour long session with my boyfriend, there was no need to reapply.

What I also enjoyed was that I didn't have to rush to clean up afterwards. With many lubricants, I am left feeling sticky or greasy after use; therefore, I immediately get up and clean myself. With Liquid Silk, I could relax with my boyfriend without having to feel uncomfortable. There was even an instance where I fell asleep before I had a chance to wash up. When I woke, I felt fine; there wasn't any oily or slimy feeling to my skin.

Taste / Aroma

I didn't notice any odor with this lubricant unless I put it directly in front of my nose. Even then, it was very light. While not extremely unpleasant, I would prefer not to bring Liquid Silk that close to my face again.

Liquid Silk is not designed to be brought into contact with the mouth. Looking at the list of ingredients, you can probably see why; there are a lot of chemicals, which should not be ingested. That being said, I once made the mistake of biting a finger nail not long after using this lubricant. The leftover lube had a very bitter taste and I immediately went to clean my mouth.

Performance

Regardless of the negative aspects I have pointed out, Liquid Silk does perform quite well. It is long-lasting; in an hour long sex session with my boyfriend, we did not have to reapply this product whatsoever. It felt smooth and natural (as natural as lubricant can get anyway) the entire time.

Afterwards, it does absorb into the skin nicely, so you don't have to rush to clean yourself. However, since I have inspected the ingredients, I wouldn't want to leave this lubricant on my skin for too long. It won't irritate everyone, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Since I am prone to UTIs, I no longer use this lubricant for sexual intercourse or masturbation. However, I still do have some use for it. I've found that Liquid Silk does wonders for hand jobs and massages. Since it isn't thick and feels really smooth, it glides across the skin with ease. The skin is left feeling smooth and hydrated, rather than sticky or greasy.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Allergy concerns
    • Long lasting

Packaging

Liquid Silk comes in an 8.25 fl. oz. plastic bottle. The container is clear, so you can see the white lubricant inside. What gives the product away is the verbiage on the label; even if quickly scanned, it becomes pretty apparent that it's sexual lubricant. However, if you didn't read the label, it would look like a bottle of liquid hand soap. If you want to leave this product out in the open, you can either peel the label off or disguise it by placing it among body lotions and whatnot.

It is really easy to use this product since it comes with a pump top. All you have to do is push down on the white lever, and a small portion of Liquid Silk will land in the palm of your hand. One or two pumps should be more than enough for most people.

As long as the cap is screwed on tight, the bottle won't leak or spill. You may want to keep it standing upright to ensure that nothing pushes on the pump.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Does not leak
    • Easy to use / dispense

Personal comments

Personally, I much prefer Maximus. It performs just as well, if not better than, Liquid Silk. It also doesn't contain glycerin; although, it does still have parabens.
