extremely useful review
Liquid Silk is just as its name would suggest—smooth. This ‘luxury’ water-based, glycerin free lubricant provides plenty of slickness for any intimate encounter. In fact, Liquid Silk works wonderfully with the body’s natural lubrication, enhancing and prolonging slickness. The pump bottle makes this lubricant easy to use and because it is water-based, it will work with essentially any toy in any situation. The manufacturers claim that Liquid Silk is Bio-Static, which means that it will help reduce infections, fungus, and other not-so-sexy bugs. While I have no way of testing this out, it certainly is a nice bonus!

Liquid Silk certainly scores plenty of points for slickness, ease of use, and versatility, but for smell and taste, it is a little lacking. The lubricant has a mild bitter scent, which I did not find off-putting, though some people might. However, the taste of the lubricant is an equally bitter flavor and slightly unpleasant. While this certainly won’t affect any play with toys it may be a little discouraging if oral sex is meant to be a part of play. While the taste factor is not a deal-breaker for this lubricant it is too bad a ‘luxury’ lube couldn’t find a way to improve (or at least neutralize) this bitter flavor a little.

The tastefully packaged and presented Liquid Silk lives up to its ‘luxury’ description almost entirely. The versatile water-based glycerin-free lube is unlikely to irritate no matter how and where it is used. Its consistency is smooth without being sticky and it retains its slickness throughout use—even complimenting any natural lubrication already present. While its slightly bitter taste and smell are slightly disappointing, they are not overwhelming—and this non-staining, high quality lubricant easily out-weighs those cons with its versatility, smoothness, and ease of use. Liquid Silk would be a good choice for anyone seeking a dependable and satisfying lubricant for any type of play.
Follow-up commentary
After having used Liquid Silk for a while I can only say that it is definitely a great lube to have around. My partner and I have used it for basically every type of play and it has performed admirably. The slightly bitter taste/smell is really a small issue and overall Liquid Silk is long-lasting, easy to use, and extremely natural in feel. I'm sure when this bottle runs out we will be getting another one!

  • Liquid Silk and Silicone Toys
    • So, while looking through highly rated water based lubes, I came across Liquid Silk. Aside from the bitter taste, no one seems to have any complaints.

However, I noticed that the fourth ingredient is Dimethicone - and I was wondering what everyone's experience with this and silicone sex toys was? Is the silicone in Liquid Silk a small enough portion that it has no effect on toys, or is it generally not recommended for that type of play?

Or does the bonding potential of silicone lubes have more to do with the type/quality of silicone than anything else?
    • That's a really good question because Dimethicone is a silicone.

Basically it should be ok to use as long as the toy is made of medical grade silicone. There should, in theory, be no reaction. I, personally, wouldn't want to test that out on my own toys though. You can do a patch test on a small part of the toy. The reaction should be immediate if there is going to be one.

      Anyone else know about this?
    • I have had liquid silk react to a silicone toy. Which sucks because I love it. :(
