Over the counter....
Yes, everyone by the time they get to Eden knows the name Astroglide from something, but just because we all know it doesn't mean that we all should be using it. Most of us have out grown what Astroglide is by the time we get here.Published: September 22, 2011
Pros:
known brand
Cons:
doesn't hold up, sticky when dries, not for those with allergies
Astroglide is one of those lubes that we all hear about before we can even legally have sex. There is ads all over the place for it. And when we are young, this is the one that we all think is the lube that works the best because we all know about it. We can just get it any where. Walk down the local drug store or grocery store and it's right there on the shelf. For many of us, it's our first lube. I know that it was one of the first ones that I tried out way back in the day.
Astroglide comes in two sizes here on Eden. It comes in five ounce and two and a half ounce bottles. Both of them come with flip tops and both bottles have that signature swish shape to it that Astroglide is known for. Just be careful, the bottles will leak some if you tip them over. There is no color to it, but there is a flavor and scent to it. I can't really put my finger on the scent and flavor, but it's far from pleasant and not something that I like working with for oral sex. It's made out of purified water, glycerin, propylene glycol, hydroxyethylcellulose, aspartame, methylparaben, and sodium benzoate. It's a water based lube and has a feel that is slightly more viscous than water.
As I said earlier, the bottle leaks and the taste is very unpleasant. But there is other problems with it. First off if you have any kind of problems with allergies, you want to pass on this. The glycerin could get you badly. It also gets very sticky if it dries a little bit.
But the kicker with the problems with Astroglide is that it just doesn't work that well as a lube. It takes a lot more to even get going than most other water based lubes. Plus you have to keep going back to it to make it though a whole sex session. And if it can't work well during vaginal sex, I sure as hell wouldn't want to even try it out for anal sex or pegging.
If you're here on Eden at this point in your life, then you have out grown Astroglide. Grab yourself a bottle of something else and you will be much happier for it.

Astroglide is a great choice for first time personal lubricant buyer! It can last very long.

Life004This was my first lubricant and after buying numbers of other brands, I still look back at this brand, they can truly last when it comes to playing with any masturbation toys. -

I absolutely think astroglide is the best all-around lube on the market. Let me know what you think.

Quote: I absolutely think astroglide is the best all-around lube on the market. Let me know what you think.I would definitely agree with you there! I always used to use different KY ones and the occasional one from different surprise-party type companies, but there was always something about them that I hated. Finally I was introduced to astroglide and haven't used anything else since :D

Astroglide is ok, but I find it doesn't work that well for anal sex. I use Maximus for that, as I am naturally a wet person, and don't really need lube for anything else.

98 Reviews? Are You Serious???
-
Can you believe there are 98 reviews on Astroglide? I was just browsing through lubes and thought I might find a good one to review, and I saw that it had 98!!! No kidding, check the page! What do you think of this, folks? Are you as surprised as me?

Most likely because reviewers starting out have to review cheaper items first. I'd guess that lubes and massage balms/oils would be many reviewers' first picks since they'd want to buy the stuff anyway. :P

A lot of people use Astroglide, so it doesn't surprise me. I reviewed it myself :)

Thank you for viewing Astroglide – water based lube review page!

Thanks for the review. I have never bought a bottle myself, but my brother slipped me a bottle on my wedding day. We used it a few times, and went back to what we were using before this.
good review, thanks for sharing. We had a bottle of this a few years back. Only had a chance to use it twice before the bottle broke and it went all over the floor. I do not remember it being that bad, but I know it was not better then our regular lube, so it never was replaced.
nice review
tyvm for the review
