Slippery Roads Ahead
This is the best lube I have experienced simply because it feels like it's part of my natural lubrication; not like I'm slicking myself up with maple syrup. (That's a whole 'nother review.)Published: May 19, 2009
Pros:
delicate, natural feel, price.
Cons:
bottle is a little awkward.
This is my favorite lube - period. It can most definitely go toe-to-toe with most of the regular KY products.
Astroglide is water based, so it's safe for toys and condoms alike. The ingredients on the bottle I own are as follows: Purified water, glycerin, propylene glycol, polyquaternium 15, methylparaben, propylparaben. There are no hidden sugars or flavorings, so no risk of vaginal infections here. As always, this is not a contraceptive or spermicidal liquid.
What I appreciate most about this product is the feel of it. It is silky slick, not syrupy or sticky. In fact, I wouldn't describe this liquid as "thick" at all. Once applied, it feels like your body's naturally produced lubricants. If rubbed into the skin as a moisturizer, it absorbs quickly and smoothly leaving no smell or film on the surface. When used as a sexual lubricant, I find that a little goes a long way, so even though the bottle may look small it WILL last you a long time. It provides excellent assistance with insertion and protects against friction. This product is perfectly comfortable, making ideal to use even as a personal lubricant for vaginal dryness or even for dry skin on other parts of the body.
On a personal note, I have experienced sensitivity and allergic reactions to other lubricants and this product hasn't bothered me at all. That makes this product worth every penny to me, because there is nothing worse than discomfort in the nether regions.
The bottle I own is 5 liquid US ounces (141.8g). I've had the same bottle for almost a year now with pretty consistent use and I'm not even halfway through it. Amount used will vary by individual, of course, but my experience is that you won't need to slather it on like cake frosting. It comes in a cute wavy bottle. I have had a problem with the bottle leaking a little, so try to store it upright if at all possible. It is also of note that the liquid can briefly feel cold when first applying, as most lubes do. This quickly dissipates and can cleverly be used as part of the experience as an exhilarating part of foreplay. However, it should be stored at room temperature- no keeping it the fridge to douse someone in ice-cold lube. :)
All in all, I highly recommend this product because of it's affordability, the wonderful feel and that it seems to be amicable to sensitive users like myself.

Experience
Works great with all of my toys to get things going! It's also been handy with my partner, and causes no reaction on the skin.
Follow-up commentary
3 months after original review
I'm still using this product and have continued to enjoy it. I have not experienced any irritation. I expect the bottle will last a very long time, but if I run out I will definitely buy another bottle!

Favorite lube?

I absolutely think astroglide is the best all-around lube on the market. Let me know what you think.

Quote: I absolutely think astroglide is the best all-around lube on the market. Let me know what you think.I would definitely agree with you there! I always used to use different KY ones and the occasional one from different surprise-party type companies, but there was always something about them that I hated. Finally I was introduced to astroglide and haven't used anything else since :D

Astroglide is ok, but I find it doesn't work that well for anal sex. I use Maximus for that, as I am naturally a wet person, and don't really need lube for anything else.

98 Reviews? Are You Serious???
-
Can you believe there are 98 reviews on Astroglide? I was just browsing through lubes and thought I might find a good one to review, and I saw that it had 98!!! No kidding, check the page! What do you think of this, folks? Are you as surprised as me?

Most likely because reviewers starting out have to review cheaper items first. I'd guess that lubes and massage balms/oils would be many reviewers' first picks since they'd want to buy the stuff anyway. :P

A lot of people use Astroglide, so it doesn't surprise me. I reviewed it myself :)
