Astroglide - lubricant discontinued by BioFilm - review by I like to try harder

When you have a need for extra lubrication, Astroglide can fit the bill quite nicely. A few drops can give a nice slippery natural feel. It can be applied during foreplay, and it makes a good primer for masturbation or sex. Used with insertable toys, it can take away any of that dragging sensation that may be experienced with some materials. Men can use it with a masturbator while women may enjoy it with their favorite clitoral or insertable toys. Used for a natural feeling, it is very close to natural lubrication. It even has some use in a water-based environment...think pool or hot tub.

Astroglide has a great feel to me. It comes closer to natural lubrication than any other I have experienced. It has a liquid base with good coverage. In other words, a little goes a long way.. It is not too thick and gooey, but has enough viscosity to stay where you put it. It doesn't have a greasy feeling, but does dry to a mild stickiness after quite some time.

Astroglide doesn't have any taste to speak of. You can tell it is there by the coating you get on your lips and tongue. It is not made to be ingested, however the manufacturer website states ingesting small amounts should not be harmful. If you squeeze some of the lube onto your fingers and smell it, there is really no aroma. However, if you squeeze the bottle to smell it, there is a very slight plastic smell, which may just be the bottle.

A little goes a long way. Astroglide has never failed me. I’ve never had to reapply. My wife is usually the first to reach for the bottle and loves the feel of this lube. Using it with toys provides an excellent feel without leaving everything feeling greasy. Once the need for lube is done, it washes away with soap and water with no residue left over.

It does dry and leave a slight bit of stickiness if left without washing. It has never dried while in use. It does contain some ingredients that can cause sensitivity issues, so I recommend you check to see if Astroglide will cause problems before you try it full on. The paraben containing ingredients are the usual suspects that may cause problems.

Astroglide is packaged in a box when purchased, but has an oddly shaped bottle. The bottle has a flip-cap for dispensing. It is easy to get the amount you want. You do have to watch and make sure the cap is closed completely or you may find your bottle spilled all over your storage drawer. It can be used for travel, but I would recommend sealing it in a ziplock bag to ensure it doesn't leak. It is not exactly discreet as the bottle is labled as a personal lubricant but it is small enough to hide or it could be put in another container.

I really like Astroglide, but it doesn't mean I will not continue to try others. I do have a tendency to lean towards organic and natural products and look forward to trying Astroglide Natural. I have never tried a silicone based lube, which I understand has a great feel, so I cannot compare Astroglide to one of those. I have never used this or any lube for anal, so I cannot comment for that as well.
