Astroglide has been the stuff of legends throughout the years. The sheer mention of it in a high school will illicit giggles from the students. I know for me, Astroglide has always been associated with anal sex. I don't know where I got that misconception, but I had it up until I actually tried some.

Astroglide is a water based lubricant that can be used in both vaginal and anal sex. It might recommend massage, but I would avoid using this for anything other than sex since this lube tends to become sticky after some time. With that being said, masturbation is almost impossible with this lube unless you want to keep reapplying.

The consistency of Astroglide is just a little too watery for me. This may be a matter of personal taste, but I prefer my lube to have a little thickness and not run too easily. Aside from texture, Astroglide felt great. It has a good slick feel and only starts to feel sticky after it has begun to dry.

It did not have the most pleasant of smells. Since this is just straight lube, it smelled like the chemicals that were in it. I know lubes generally do not have the most pleasant of smells, but I have definitely smelled better lubes in my time. I would most definitely not use this for oral sex unless you want your partner to have a mouth full of this nasty smelling(and I assume nasty tasting) stuff.

Astroglide has one major redeeming quality: performance. I must say I was very impressed with how well it worked. With some lubes you still have to work at getting things going, but Astroglide made everything so slick that things were going very quickly. Insertion was the easiest it has ever been and the lube lasted the entire session. It was an easy clean up and the only problem I had was having to smell the Astroglide while cleaning up. It is a power house of a performer.

The packaging on the Astroglide is in fact a little plain. The two color box with the simple "Astroglide" written on it isn't going to be spotted in a crowd. The bottle inside the box, however, is in fact very neat looking. The wavy bottle is one of the most unique lube bottles that I have seen. It also gives some extra grip when your hands get a little lube on them.

In a world of heating, cooling, prolonging, arousing, and whatever other actions lubes do today, Astroglide is just a straight up lubricant. This isn't a bad thing, but the other lubricants with all the extra features may start to overshadow the most famous of the lubes.

Astroglide to me was always something that people used to have anal sex. After actually getting some and using it for vaginal sex, I must say it is in fact a performer. The best analogy I can think of is that it's a race car. A normal everyday car has air conditioning, DVD player, radio, heated seat, and the like. The race car has just the essentials to make it go fast. That's what Astroglide is, a stripped down, no nonsense race car. It's here to lubricate and that's it. No bells or whistles, just good, old-fashioned sex.
