Buyer's Guide Harnesses Guias y de Sexo Truquitos

Choosing a strap-on dildo

The crux of any harness and the very purpose of its existence is the strap-on; that's why we've included a quick dildo tutorial in this guide.

First off, you need to ascertain that any dongs you purchase are harness compatible, i.e. they have a wide flared base by which to be secured. You should also keep in mind that the width of the dildo has to be smaller than the width of the harness's O ring to fit through it. Most O-rings are at least one and a quarter inch wide, but you should still always check the measurements. Some harnesses come with different sized O rings; these include the Vibrating velvet harness and the Corsette harness.

Weight is another factor that plays into the mix; if your harness isn't so sturdy you don't want to exacerbate the situation with a dildo that will sag.

Another consideration you should take into account, and the most important yet often overlooked, is that dildos that can work for the harness-wearer too. For example, some harnesses, such as the Butt & dildo harness, sport an interior butt plug lock-in system.

Make sure you use somewhat soft and reasonably-sized dildos when embarking on an anal sexcapade. You can really stimulate any part you would normally during sex, from the prostate to the clitoris, as long as you have the right dildo, or even vibrator, and harness.

And lastly, features like shape, material and look are all up to you, so the possibilities are endless.

The Vac-u-lock system

Some harnesses, like the Ultra harness 2 and plug come with the Vac-u-lock® system from Doc Johnson® which fastens compatible dildos to the harness. Something as simple as having a solid conjoining piece between the strap-on and harness is one of the best ways to secure the dildo, and besides the benefits of control and leverage this allows, it also adds to the authenticity of your fantasy role playing by making the penis look like it's actually a part of your body. You can also purchase the Vac-u-lock system separately as well. One thing you should keep in mind is that while this apparatus does help secure strap-ons, you will be limited to Vac-u-lock compatible dildos. There are, however, extensive lists of compatible harnesses and strap-ons in a wide range of varieties and prices.

The Powerlock system

The patented Powerlock system does the same thing as the Vac-u-lock® and just as well, but the selection of compatible strap-ons is less varied. The Powelock harness with slimline cock comes ready with a strap-on as its name suggests that is fastened to the harness with a sturdy snap and lock mechanism.

The O ring

This is the piece that secures the dildo to the harness and sets the parameters for the width of the dong you can use. Generally, you won't have to worry about its construction, but if you plan on using large or heavy strap-ons you'll want an O ring that's made out of solid metal.

In almost all harnesses the O-ring is attached via straps, and this construction allows you to use different sized O-rings and thus different sized dildos. One consideration to keep in mind is that a larger dildo means more sag and a less secure fit in the lesser quality harnesses. The Corsette harness and the Vibrating velvet harness both come with three interchangeable and different sized O-rings.
