Cotton can be rather stretchy but is soft and great for beginners. I use poly-nylon. It's easy to find, you can purchase it at any Home Depot or local department store. I also pimp hemp. It's the go to rope, the staple, but there are inexpensive alternatives that are actually better for novice bottoms.
