Welcome to the Birthday Club’s sixth post of birthday shout-outs! Once a month will be a forum announcement to celebrate the birthdays of our favorite Eden Staff, reviewers, and contributors! So wish everyone a happy birthday and let the celebration begin!
Thanks to the amazing generosity of the EdenFantasys Staff, every contributor who participates in the birthday club will receive a $25 gift card for their birthday month! These are distributed weekly by the staff and are only given to those who send in their birthdays on time to be included in the monthly posts!
And if you have yet to submit your own birthday, PM or email me now! These are the only accepted forms of birthday submissions because it allows me to store them and not worry about missing one of you. Also, if you don’t get your birthday to me before the shout-out gets posted for your month, you will not be mentioned in the post and are ineligible for the GC that month. But don’t worry! You’ll still be in my records when your birthday comes around again!
To make celebrating with our fellow Eden contributors more interesting and special, every month has its own characteristics and history so I’ll be sharing a little of that each time. It’s not going to be extensive information because that would take up entirely too much space and leave me with nothing to do next year. But it does add a little spice to every month of the year and, hey, you might learn a little something too!

Zodiac Sign (May 21st – June 21st) – Gemini
Under the ruling planet of Mercury, this is an air sign symbolized by the twins. Why twins? Because of the dual nature of the Gemini’s personality, of course. You’re complex and contradictory. Your positive traits tend to come easily to you, you mystery wrapped in an enigma! You’re affectionate, courteous, kind, generous, and thoughtful to others. But your negative traits also utilize these positives for more “sinister” purposes. You can be a bit superficial and not above using others’ perception of your sweetness for your own gain. June 1, 1926 – Marilyn Monroe (née Norma Jean Mortensen) was born in Los Angeles, California.
June 2, 1740 – Marquis de Sade was born in Paris. A military leader, governor-general, and author, he was best known for his acts of cruelty and violence, which resulted in the term sadism being coined from his name to mean gratification in inflicting pain.
June 3, 1972 – Sally Jan Priesand was ordained a rabbi and became the first woman rabbi in the U.S.
June 4, 1944 – Rome was liberated during WWII by the U.S. 5th Army, led by General Mark Clark.
June 5, 1783 – The first sustained flight occurred as a hot-air balloon was launched from Annonay, Fance by Joseph and Jacques Montgolfier. The 33-foot in diameter vehicle ascended about 6,000 feet.
June 6, 1723 – Adam Smith was borni n Kirkcaldy, Scotland. He is best known as an economist and philosopher who wrote “An Enquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations”, published in 1776. He is also called the Father of Capitalism.
June 6, 1872 – Famous feminist Susan B. Anthony was fined for voting in a presidential election in Rochester, New York. After the right to vote was granted to African American males by the 15th Amendment, she insisted the same right be extended to women. She led a group of determined women to the poll to vote and therefore test their status as citizens. She was arrested and sentenced to pay a $100 fine (which was a whole lot back then), to which she refused. It wasn’t until 14 years after her death that finally an amendment (the 19th)to the constitution was ratified to allow women the right to vote.
June 7, 1965 – The U.S. Supreme Court struck down a Connecticut law banning contraception. In Griswold v. Connecticut, the Supreme Court guaranteed the right to privacy, including freedom from government intrusion into matters of birth control.
