Do you prefer to cook or to bake?

Contributor: ss143 ss143
A question I find comes up when people hear I like to cook/bake is which do you prefer? Cooking as in making dinners and such and baking being cookies cake bread etc.

Me I love to do both but if someone said I could only do one I am an avid baker. I don't have a sweet tooth at all but something about it calms me and makes me happy. I make tons of cookies and cakes during the holidays and put together little sweet boxes I call them and pass them out to family and friends.

So which do you prefer to cook or to bake?

Baking leads to too many sweets for my tastes. I'd rather cook.

Bake. For some reason it is very much a comforting and relaxing thing to do.

I like to do both, but I prefer to bake whether it be sweets or my dinner. Baking makes me feel more productive, though, for some reason. And gives me the warm fuzzies.

Most of the time I prefer to cook, but when Fall comes around it makes me feel like baking....I was actually discussing it with a friend today.

I hate to cook, but I love to bake even though I rarely eat sweets. Alan likes to do all three (lol).

I love to cook, especially when we have guests and for the holidays. I also love to bake, it relaxes me. I do not have much of a sweet tooth so the calories don't bother me.

If you can't grill it, I don't want to do it.

I did chose bake. I am a very good baker. (Something for Brag thread.) But, I also love to cook.
Last night I made a struesel coffee cake for our breakfast this morning. Day before yesterday I made brownies. The day before that I made pancakes for dinner. The day before that I made an oven pancake (the one that puffs) for dinner (we're low on food and The Man is working late.) Sunday morning I got up at 5:00 AM and made two loaves of bread. One plain butter bread and one with cinnamon swirls, so we would have something warm and tasty for breakfast. Last week I made cupcakes, twice!

I need more flour.

My Man cooks a lot, but does not bake because you have to follow directions. So, I do a lot of baking and things in between. Biscuits and bread for meals span both cooking and baking.

Sounds like me I am always running out of vanilla flour yeast something I should look into scheduled deliveries of my supplies. I just pulled some butterscotch white chocolate chip blondies out of the oven my boys are harassing me for them lol and I made a coffee cake for the morning and two nights ago I made raspberry/white chocolate chip cookies for my mom. Haven't decided what I will make tomorrow

I'm a fan of both. Baking appeals to the logical parts of my brain, while cooking is all about experimenting with different herbs and seasonings. (I cook using the highly methodical method of 'Ooh, that smells good!' *adds to pot*)
