Its a classic. The John Carpenter one is better than the original The thing from another world. One of the only movie remakes I like better than the original. My boyfriend worked on the new new remake that just came out. Which sucks, we were so disappointed. Producers ruin everything.

Like I said, my kids have been sick. I haven't finished the movie. Everything is dissenting right now. The blood is gone and Bridges just took over. (I think it's Doc right now)

I also got sucked into a book over the past two days. It's physically challenging to not read it right now.

I know I've seen a few John Carpenter movies but I'm drawing a blank on which thy were. Aw Sorry the new one's not as good.

Working on teams like that must sometimes be really frustrating, because you're all really invseted in the project, but it takes a lot of people, and some have a totally different vision...

Haha, on this computer I have two browsers with multiple tabs each. At home my laptop has three windows of two separate browsers and I don't even wanna count the tabs lol.

Well the thing is with this one the JC one the special effects are what made it a classic. Rob Bottin did them, who is now a insurance guy or something--which is weird. But when the new one was announced the producers said they were going the practical route. So the place my boyfriend works for made a ton of practical puppets for this movie, which were beautiful I seen them in person. And then in the movie they went over all of it with cgi. So it kind of ruined a lot of it. And I think they missed the point story wise. In the JC one its all about feeling alone and not knowing who isnt the alien. And they didnt have much of that in the new one. It was all oh loud noises and action.

Aw. The special effects were brilliant! I was really hoping that the new one wouldn't just all be CGI and action - I hate that about movies these days. Sigh.

Yes, you definitely get the sense of solitude and lack of trust. It's very obvious.

They really are brilliant. They are seriously legendary in the effects industry. There was nothing like them before it. The head walking on the floor. And the dog alien which was sculpted by Stan Winston who did jurassic park! It was all so strange and weird. They had nearly a year to work on it. The new one they had 3 months to do all the practical effects. Talk about a time difference.

I actuall liked them both for different reasons. The original was more suspenseful but the special effects in the new one were pretty good.

I don't really watch too many movies so I was a bit clueless about what this movie would be like visually, and it blew me away. I was not expecting anything that impressive, and knowing that it was a first kinda thing makes me extra glad I saw it. Sooo many tentacles.

I think thats the best part of the movie. You are surrounded by all your friends who your stuck with on this remote part of the planet. And all of the sudden an alien who can replicate your friends is hiding in your camp trying to escape to civilization unnoticed. He wasn't trying to kill the humans just to kill them but to hide. Who do you trust? What do you do? Its terrifying.
