Hey everyone!

I just wanted to crawl out of my cave of inactivity to let everyone know not only am I NOT DEAD ('cause my forum and review activity went WAY down) but that I've undertaken the HUGE task of fundraising $1k as well as training for a 9k run to benefit veterans with PTSD and TBI.

That's right folks, I'll be participating in this years Run to Home Base 9k in conjunction with the Red Sox Foundation and Mass General Hospital.

Not only is it a dream come true for a Masshole such as myself to be able to run across home plate at historic Fenway park, but I get to do it for one of the most noble causes, raising money to help veterans who have suffered the most insidious injury a war can cause, they ones you can't see.

I'll be updating on the forum from time to time with my progress both running and fundraising as it gets closer to the May 12th deadline. After the Race on May 22nd I'll update you all with my time and pics from the event!

You can help with the fundraising by donating your points or gift cards as well. Eden has generously agreed to value your points in full, so if you have 2000 points, you’d be able to trade them in for a $20 donation. E-mail Gary@edenfantasys.com to donate your points. Purchasing a gift card will also donate the full value, so if you buy a $20.00 gift card, when the physical card arrives you can send the numbers to gary@edenfantasys.com and he’ll make sure the full amount of the card purchased is donated.

Remember that the deadline for donations is May 12th, so get yours in before then!

This is a great cause that you are supporting. Just one question which I also messaged to you. I assume we can generate a GC with our points and send that code to Gary? The blog article and your post implies that you have to physically purchase one. Thanks.

either or, if you donate your points it's $0.50 on the dollar. but you can purchase a GC outright and donate the full amount, if you so wish

Very cool Taco. It is nice that you are helping out this charity and being healthy at the same time.

Nice that EF is allowing us to donate points, that is the only way I can help. So very cool indeed!

You can donate points by cashing them in and sending me the code.

You can also donate cash by purchasing a GiftCard, and sending me the code.

I guess my confusion lies in how points are only valued at half? If I purchase a GC to donate the value using my points, am I actually only donating have of the value of the card I created? And how is that GC different than if I purchase one from the site and have it mailed to me?

In all our EdenGivesBack points (cashed in, gc code emailed to Victoria in the past) points have been valued at half cash.

So $500 in points gathered meant $250 cash that EF matched.

The difference is we're allowing folks to purchase actual gift cards (with cash, not points) and donate them. We had questions about this on the last fund drives, people who were not a part of the community, who don't have points, wanting to donate but we had no way to do it since we only accepted points.

This time, we're allowing people to, basically, donate cash rather than or on top of points, which will be valued in full now.

I guess I didn't remember that the points were half value for the holiday sponsored families. Thanks for the clarification.

I think this is a really wonderful thing you're doing - and 9K, wow! I could do about 1K if pressed

nope thats what I've raised on my own, Gary told me we just hit the $300 mark for community donations!!! i'm half way there!!!!

I think it'd be awesome if every member donated $2 in EdenPoints turned gift card to this. There are literally thousands of community members, why not just make a $2 gift card out of the hundreds of EdenPoints you prolly have banked for something charitable?

if they did that i'd probably be the top individual fundraiser!
