Welcome LunaKM!

And my mother is Google-happy honestly. So I have to be pretty careful.

Aside from not using the internet at all? lol

In all seriousness though, I'm really not sure. You brought up some really good points.

Yeah. It makes sense. I don't think I'd judge you. After all, sex is how most people end up with kids in the first place.

Hah, my mom's a bit google happy too. She found the buildup on my Cadillac on the lowrider site it's posted on. I mean, she knew what site it was on, and it wasn't anything embarrassing, but she still used Google to find it. She told me, so I had the guys there tell her "hi" lol.

That's kinda weird. Yeah, I remember I got into a lot of trouble with my website history when my parents found out all of my stuff from Google. Wasn't adult, but it was incriminating none-the-less. I just didn't know any better at 14.

Don't share your blogs with anyone you know; even if you think you can trust them or you think they aren't in the same social circles. It can get back to someone you don't want it to.

Don't look at your comments or write your blog at work!

I hadn't thought of that one. But what about internet contacts? I mean, they have the ability to really mess up stuff too.

There are A LOT of people who don't agree with toy reviews being on the same site as a parenting blog though. Which I can understand and is why I decided to separate them. Even though at the time I was only posting one or two reviews a month.

I would suggest double and triple checking all your account names and information, especially with plugins such as the WP to Twitter one. When I set up my new site I somehow managed to link my main twitter to my review site by mistake and it posted a few of my entries.

Along the same lines as keep it away from work, don't surf or work on your blog from your phone. How many times have you just handed your phone over to a friend to use or to share a picture? You could accidentally open your blog and then you have to explain yourself.

That's totally the same reason I haven't linked my Facebook to EF. I'm afraid it'll pick up my non-sex one at some point, and that's uhhhh...not a good idea. Even for a free Kissa vibe.

My review site is only known to those who review.

I wonder how many people have been caught in their "secret" identity just from surfing their website at work.

If I have internet contacts that aren't sex blogging related then I use a different name/email address.

You could always make a second Facebook just for Eden. That's what I did.

I did. I'm still afraid it'll accidentally link up the wrong one if I do something though. My sex identity out there for a $30 vibe? Just not worth it.

If you use an email client that allows you to add a signature, don't set it to auto-add. You could forget that it's there (with your blog address in it) and send a message to someone, thus outting yourself.

Why is staying private important to you? What steps do you, personally, take to staying anonymous with your blog?

I do too. I still don't have them connected though, I don't think at least. I log into EF with my EF username. I log into my real FB all the time, my other one not so much.

I've started to pay attention to photos taken from my iphone. I loaded some up on a site where I discovered a lot of identifying information is attached to phone photos including the town where I was located where I took them.

I'm not certain how much of that type of information is retained when I upload them on blogs but I "cleanse" them by running them through editing software now. I'm still hesitant.

I did and got fired for sexual harassment. It's not a good way to leave a perfectly good job. Don't do it.

Not always a good idea. I had a facebook profile for my adult stuff and my fiance's vanilla profile kept getting THAT profile suggested to him as a possible friend. He was worried his family was also getting that suggestion to I yanked it.

Darnit. Now I'm gonna go have to delete my adult Facebook. I was worried about that since it kept suggesting my vanilla friends on my adult profile on Facebook.

My second FB profile doesn't suggest any of my IRL friends, I don't have any location set on it though I don't think. I left it as blank as possible. I did come across a few real Keara Carrolls though. lol

Staying private is extremely important to me because of my job. I don't do anything that people would say "Oh, it's wrong that she thinks and writes about sex and therefore isn't qualified for this job" but rather that I have a position that puts me in the public spotlight a lot. It would put me in the public spotlight in a way that I just don't want. I'll confess that I'm very jealous of people who can be more open about their identity like the professional writers.

I used to blog under my real name under a mainstream topic and made amazing friends across the world. We still meet at conferences and seminars. I'd love to do the same now but I've got to pay the bills

I've searched Facebook for my real name before. Surprisingly, there don't seem to be any besides myself. It's kinda neat.
