Naked Reader Book Club Discussion: Got a Minute? (April 12, 8-10 PM EST)

Contributor: Kristina Wright Kristina Wright
Welcome to the Naked Reader Book Club! Tonight we'll be chatting about Alison Tyler's steamy, sultry jam-packed anthology, Got a Minute?: 60 Second Erotica.

For those who like their erotica in a flash, Got a Minute? offers a deliciously romantic and fiercely sexy collection of super-short stories. From heavy petting at a stoplight to panties torn off under a restaurant table to putting on a show for the neighbors, these perfectly penned stories give a quick and steamy thrill that will leave you aching for more. Short in length but long on lust, the stories in Got a Minute? are red-hot reading.

Includes stories by Stephen D. Rogers, Helena Black, Shanna Germain, Saskia Walker, Marie Potoczny, Xan West, Nick Santa Rosa, Rachel Kramer Bussel, Teresa Noelle Roberts, Clare Moore, Aimee Nichols, Michael Hemmingson, Jeremy Edwards, Rakelle Valencia, Jocelyn Bringas, Saskia Walker, Laura Marks, Alison Tyler, L.A. ***

Oh, the allure of the quickie! The surge of desire that comes in an instant, all-encompassing, demanding instant gratification. Alison Tyler has compiled a sweet collection of tales that pay homage to the eroticism that can be found anywhere, anytime. Are you a fan of short, short stories (flash fiction) or sudden sex? Do you anticipate those unexpected moments to be found on the page or in real life, the moments that take your breath away with their immediacy? Can fiction do justice to that kind of instant passion? Does Got a Minute? inspire you to snag your sweetie for a quickie in the laundry room or grope your lover in an elevator? Is it better to read about quickies than to actually live them out? Is there such a thing a as a long quickie? Are quickies like pizza-- there's no such thing as a bad one?

As always, everyone is welcome at the Naked Reader Book Club, whether you've read the book or not! If you're a fan of quickies or super short erotic fiction, you'll want to stop in and join the rapid-fire discussion about books, sex, and who knows what else!

Cheers!

So... let's talk quickies! I've never had a quickie that only lasted a minute (thank god), but there is something about the instant gratification of a spontaneous encounter! Or is it just me?

Who has read Got a Minute? Who wants to chime in on their favorite stories? And who else is enthusiastic about the quickie?

I didn't read the book, and hubby and I have never had a one minute quickie either. For us, 30 to 45 minutes is a quickie. But, yes, once in a while it just...hits the spot. lol

I enjoy a quickie every now and then. It doesn't take all night for us normally, but there's something about snagging a quick 5 minutes or so before you have to move on to other activities that I really like.

As for the stories, I'm about halfway through, and I'm torn on them. I normally need some substance to get into the stories, and while I appreciate the paragraph long stories from an artistic standpoint, they just don't really do anything for me. That's part of what's taking me so long to get through the book, lol.

I read Got a Minute. I've never actually had a quickie; I'm excited about the idea of the quickness and naughtiness behind a quickie, but I don't think that belief of mine applies to reading about quickies.

And speaking of reading these books....

I just got a Kindle yesterday. And I already have quite a few Cleis Press books in my wishlist. They really have a lot in the Kindle format. Yay!

I'll have to find out what the next club meeting book is and purchase it, so I know what you are all talking about next time.

Well, most people would be envious of those 30-45 minute quickies! I don't have the stats in front of me, but the average sexual encounter is MUCH shorter! You go, girl!

Hey guys, sorry I'm late (was responding to another post).

I am also about halfway into Got a Minute.. for some reason I thought we were discussing Carrie's Story first.

There was something about the "wrongness" of hiring somebody to come in and please themselves while watching you and your lover go at it that just got me all twisted. And I've always been intrigued by having to choose your own punishment. I am warming to the kinkier stories, slowly but surely

So the quickie translates better for you in real life than it does on the page? I don't think that's unusual at all. Sometimes short vignettes require you already be "in the mood" before you even get to the story (much like the real life quickie, I suppose).

I used to have a 5 to 20 minute quickie almost every day at noon. But I also had sex on average 4 times a day.

I have also had the one minute quickie... it was my first time... how fun was that?
