My porn company encourages safer sex barrieres (condoms, gloves, detnal dams) but I am against condoms being lawfully required in the adult industry.

What I am FOR is the continuation of regulated regular testing for performers, and, I also strongly think that if a performer shows up and requests a condom-only shoot, that performer should not be discriminated against.

There are many production companies that dont ALLOW condoms, and I think that's wrong. I dont care if it's a fantasy, it's also somebody's job - and so many performers can't get work because they are condom-only.

It should be an honored request. Not a law, and also not shunned.

It's just a way of trying to make it look like they're doing something by going after an industry that a lot of people don't like. Consenting adults have the right to make their own decisions (After all, I don't see them outlawing dangerous NASCAR races), and ironically most porn performers get tested more often than regular people. Addressing the issue of keeping people safe from HIV is extraordinarily important, but that is achieved by not cutting health care and making sure there is proper education in schools.

I agree that a performer should have the right to request a condom-only shoot, but how do you ensure that they aren't discriminated against when public opinion generally favors no condoms. I worry that the pressure to perform without condoms will be mandatory by default. Basically do it or don't work.

"do it without condoms, or dont work" is the climate of the industry at the moment, so i don't see regulations about anti-discrimiation being more harmfull than the lack of it.

Also, i think if we did some research, we would find that perhaps the "public opinion" woudln't actually give a fuck about condoms or no condoms.

We have this tendency to think of the "general public" as people other than ourselves.
