Fleshlight's and cleaning.

Contributor: ToyTimeTim ToyTimeTim
So, about three months ago I received my first Fleshlight. Aside from not being able to use all the texture, the one thing that drove me nuts was the cleaning. I mean come on, "Rinse with warm water" Are you kidding me, just water? Hell to the NO!

Thus my quest began to find a reason why I could not use my favorite toy cleaner. I am not one to believe everything I hear, especially when someone says "You have to buy this if you want to use soap" Fleshlight sells a toy cleaner, Fleshwash and it has some similar ingredients to Climax Burst. So the testing began

Three months later and many many washings, I am happy to report there has been no damage whatsoever. I did notice that it does become rather sticky after washing, but nothing a little cornstarch does not fix. I am thinking that this is due to it being truly clean. We all know that just putting your hands under some water does not get them clean, same for a sex toy.

Now, I am not saying that you should just start using your favorite toy cleaner on your precious Fleshlight because "Dwtim said I could". But rather, I wanted to let y'all know that they can be cleaned, not just rinsed with water. If you decide you may want to try using a cleaner on yours, start with a small area on one of the outer ribs. Do this a few times and see if there is any effect to the material. If no ill effects are found, go to washing the outside next. Finally when no damage is found, feel free to do the hole thing. This is the process I used. I also followed the directions on the Climax Burst bottle; apply, let stand for 30 seconds and rinse.

I will also mention that I have a second Fleshlight that I only used water for cleaning to use as a control for my research. They both look the same and one feels just as good as the other.

Well, I was waiting to do my follow up review on the Stoya Fleshlight. I did it the beginning of last week and because it was a descriptive review it had to get checked out first. I was told that due to the move these could take longer. It published last night, screwing thing is, it did not show up on the community page. (I don't know why they get published on the boards when they are submitted.)

So, it was time for a thread. Besides, I have not posted one for a while.

Glad you all like it.

I might have an answer for why it didn't show up on the community news page. I could also be completely wrong about this, so if somebody knows otherwise, please correct me. But I think what happens is that when it gets approved, it takes the place it would in line had it been approved right away if that makes sense. I had a DR I just did a followup on and it got published a few weeks after, and showed up in my review list where it would have if it had been approved and published right away.

Yup, thats what happens to me also. It drives me nuts, I go looking for it and it is not on the community page. At least it gets published, eh? I just knew that people would be looking for this one.

Awesome! My good friend has a Fleshlight and he just takes it into the shower with him for easy rinsing but I'll let him know there are further cleaning possibilities

So Climax Burst will work with these huh? That is good to know. I just got SO his first fleshlight and we have been wondering about cleaning for it.

I got him the STU, daaaaamn that thing is the huge! It's like 2 lbs and it is the size of my forearm! I hope he has fun with it and I cannot wait until the weekend when we get to open it and play with it

I'm not sure what would happen with a Fleshlight if cleaned with soap long-term. Yay for science though! I still think I'm going to stick with using very light soap once in awhile, if at all though. It's just ejaculate, for one, which doesn't bother the boyfriend much as long as it's rinsed out, and there's really not nearly as much concern about bacteria when dealing with a penis as opposed to a vagina.

I know I'm actually pretty excited to see how yours holds up in the long-run though. We use our Wet toy cleaner once in awhile (every couple months), but it doesn't seem to hurt it. Hmmm. Now I'm curious. Also, is it a regular-color Fleshlight, or is it a clear-colored? That might make a difference.

I agree about the bacteria deal. A person could always use rubbing alcohol too. I just can't stand the smell of it.

Mine is the regular color.

I just got my husband the same one. We've used it once so far, he love it, but it seemed like it took like, 14 hours for it to dry. Definitely rub it with some cornstarch too. He had to take it away from me cuz I kept rubbing it after it got starched, it was so freaking soft! lol

Try this, after washing/rinsing place it in the case with the big ribs holding it up and out of the case. Leave the small cap off and stand it up on the small end. This will allow it do drain and will let air flow through it.

Here is a visual aid-

I will definitely have to try that. He left it all in the case, then I went upstairs, took it out, dried off the outside of the sleeve and the inside of the case, then left it standing upright. Seemed to dry a lot faster once I got it that way, so I'll tell him to try it like that. Thanks

It's hard to believe that Fleshlight doesn't make a soft brush or something similar that can be used along with w/alcohol or Fleshwash to reach the entire length of the sleeve.

I just use my fingers or a dildo, my Gold laced G works very good for cleaning stroker's. I have also had good luck turning it inside out, but I only turn the end portion. I don't want to rip the entrance.

I wanted to try flipping it inside out (as I have always done with cheaper sleeves) but was worried that it might mess it up or make it looser. Flipping just the end is a great idea (unfortunately, I'll never have to worry about reaching the end during use anyway!). I'm guessing that the Gold laced G is a glass toy? That's a good idea too, as the lacing probably works as a makeshift brush. Thanks Dwtim, great post as usual!

We also give ours a bath. Literally. We run a bath with bubbles and let her soak. We then scrub here in and out. Dry her. Finally we dust her with powder lubricant and then put her back to bed. Works great and she is never sticky.

I always wondered how people clean flesh lights that aren't like the flip holes. Now I know! Thanks for the posts. ( :

The clean up is rather annoying at times, but worth it.
