#NewEvent - Secrets in the Garden of Eden? Oh do tell...

Contributor: Sylvan Sylvan
I didn't see the mysterious post a couple weeks ago, BUT as someone who reads Post Secret obsessively every week I am THRILLED that someone was rad enough to think of making one for Eden!!!!

Oooh I LOVE "Eden's Secret Garden"! Wish I had thought of it, haha. Good job guys!

Will Eden's version of Post Secret be limited to confessions relating to sex or does anything go?

Some ideas for themes - love, marriage, divorce, sexual fantasies, masturbation, pornography, adultery, revenge, confidence/insecuritie s, sexual health... I'm not sure if these are the sort of suggestions you are looking for?

I think it could be interesting to do a seven deadly sins sort of theme. Either all of the sins at once - lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrach, envy and pride - or spread out so that each sin is represented individually - lust one week then gluttony the next, and so on.

I love it, too.

But it reminds me on the famous book, 'My secret garden'.

It's about women's sexual fantasies, it's great.

I think electronically would be great. I am a big PostSecret fan and have been following the blog since it started! I think if I had time to only make one postcard it would go to PostSecret. However if it were electronic it would be a lot easier to submit secrets.

I'm confused. I don't do well with hints and innuendos at all.

I have NO idea what the "Post Secret Blog" was. I really am not a fan of all the "WAIT! Fun things coming, but we can't tell you yet." WHY NOT? I'm not here every day anymore, for a lot of reasons, and all the secrecy lately is only making me more frustrated and less..... interested. Am I alone in this? I'm only being honest. I'm nothing if not honest.

More info and less James Bond OOOO Big Secret type posting would be really really helpful.

I guess what I am saying it: JUST FREAKIN' TELL US what you are "hinting" at. Kay?

Now, I'm going back to frustration and confusion.

What?

Like... postcards? Paper... pen and ink? STAMPS? I don't even BUY stamps anymore.

Well, if people are into it, more power to 'em. But, if it requires getting my sorry ass to the Post Office to buy stamps and then writing a.. post card (?) and then getting my sorry ass to a virtually-impossible to find mail box, I'm out.

Mileage and all that.

Really. I'm tearing out my hair with all the "secrets" and "hinting" going on on Eden lately. Tells us what's going on and if the Admin can't tell us yet don't say anything until they can be specific in detail. Please? Again.... Mileage.

I have to say something..... this "secrecy" stuff is really getting frustrating the hell out of me. (Yes, sad story, I was one of those kids who got left out of a lot of the "cool" stuff in Middle School because I wasn't one of the "cool" kids and all this expecting us to remember some secret promised months ago stuff is bringing me right back there....)

I'm done.

Points changes and we have said numerous times in the last couple of weeks that we're pretty much changing everything to some degree and I also stated that I would explain things as they were happening but some of the details I don't even know yet - specifically the actual dates of the releases. I can't share information I don't have, but I will share all that I can.

Review layouts will have more options, we're streamlining inventory, we're going to be doing more work with the community one on one for events and fun things.

As for this specific event it is 100% electronic. I'm not in the office and I love you all but you can no has my mailing address.

Logistically this can't be done through the post office, though no doubt they would be happy to have the business.

Things have always been done with hints and buzz before the actual release and it's meant to build excitement not make promises. I like the admins talking to us and letting us know things are in the works. When they clam up there is more than the usual chaos...but then maybe I am just more involved than the average contributor to the site.

I'm more confused than ever now.

Somebody said something about postcards.... I'm as stumped as you are about it. NOT a good idea, that, IMO.

I just not one who does well with uncertainty, Storm. In fact, when I got married and got pregnant with my kids I told my family, "I even get wind that anyone is planned a "surprise" shower for me, I won't show up." I HATE uncertainty and I hate "surprises." I like to know where I am and what I am dealing with at all times.

That's just me, though. Some people love to "look forward" to stuff. I'm not one of them, though.

(Yeah. I'm a peach to live with.)

For anyone who hasn't heard of Post Secret before, it's a blog ran by a man named Frank Warren. Every Sunday he showcases some of the postcards people have sent to him containing their anonymous secrets or confessions. Some of them are very inspirational and can help make you realise you're not alone, there are other people out there who share your same secrets, feelings, desires, etc. I think it would be great for Eden to have their own version of that. And the fact that this will be an electronic version makes it a lot quicker and easier to submit your own entries.

Ahh! I think I understand where your confusion is coming from.

This post isn't about the secret changes that are going on. This post is about a new club that's similar to many online 'secret sharing' websites, such as Post Secret. That's where you write in/create something that has your secret on it and they post it so that you can get advice and get it off of your chest.

It has nothing to do with secret changes on Eden, but it's a club where people can share THEIR secrets without people knowing their identity.

Totally understandable. We're going to be providing additional options to the review program - sort of a bite-sized version that will allow reviewers to highlight the most important details. I can't tell you any more than that because I haven't seen the concept layouts yet. I just know the general direction we're going to head toward and it's going to allow more users to participate in the review program.

For the secret event - (I'm really surprised by how many people have never heard of the original) - it's a way for people to get things off their chest. While we're all anonymous here except for people who actually know each other in real life, we're still familiar with each other on a reviewer level - our Eden identities ARE our identities and sometimes we don't share or let others see what's going on in our lives for fear of being judged in the future, so this event will open up an outlet for people who want to express their emotions in an anonymous environment. It's all digital...submit a secret via .jpg. It's pretty easy.

We changed the points program due to the fact some of those things were being abused to an extent that was becoming unhealthy and taking away from the site instead of adding to it. We're also reducing our inventory to carry only a core selection of products and you can read about that here.

"Eden's Puzzle Box" is my original suggestion.
Eden's Mission Impossible or Eden's Impossible Mission would also be great.

I have a wooden puzzle box myself that I keep my treasures in approximately the size 6" x 4" x 2 1/2" deep. It opens by moving various hidden pieces of the box certain ways to reveal an inside compartment and if you move a few more, a hidden drawer with lid underneath. I also keep the key to my locked 'Adult Toy Chest" and actual jewelry armoir within it. I saw a close copy of it on an original Mission Impossible episode staring Barbara Bain who had to open it as a blind woman of nobility. It was proof in the episode she was indeed the woman in question if she could indeed open the box.

Finding Eden's Secret will be much like finding the key in my puzzle box to open my Adult Toy Chest. I've attached a picture to show you the box, the images are a little faded, I've had it a long time but you should be able to see it clearly enough.

Opened Puzzle Box

I missed the original thread. One thing regarding survivors and the labeling of abuse triggers. I do not agree with labeling it as a TRIGGER. What is a trigger for you may not be one for me. That would put an undue burden on the person posting as well as give a false sense of security to those survivors who might think anything not labeled a TRIGGER would be "safe" for them.

I suggest putting the topic at the beginning. Then the reader can make the decision for themselves if that topic might produce a trigger. From a topic, I can tell if that is an area where I might not be comfortable in. For example a friend has issues with physical abuse so she does not read anything on the BDSM topics.
