I was wondering if anyone else has ever bought a toy simply because they wanted to have it, and not because they needed it. Whether it be for an unlikely situation, simply because it's pretty, just for fun, because you wanted a "complete set", looking at it turns you on, or any other reason. For example, I am dying to own a strap-on harness, even though my SO isn't in to pegging. The thought of just owning it, turns me on like crazy. So have you ever bought a toy or a different kind of item, that even though you weren't really going to use it, you just had to have? If so, what was it?
Frivolous Spending. Are you guilty of it?

Yup. The most recent was a pair of handcuffs that turned out to be very cheap and a bit too small for me, so I sent 'em back.

I have done that with glass dildos. I like glass but have found I prefer it more for anal. I have a few glass dildos that I bought and tried, even liked, but over time realized it's not my favorite. Of course, I still will buy some glass dildos periodically because they're gorgeous and I don't feel my collection would be the same without them
I too want to get a strap on even though my partner isn't into pegging...YET! I am determined to turn him on to it!

I said other, because I'm pretty good at only getting sex toys I'm planning to use. But, there are other things I'm frivolous with.

I usually only get things I know I will use.
03/16/2013
A couple of times--yes. I usually try to stick with ones I really want, but there have been a couple times I could not resist getting something because it completed a set or was too pretty or cute.
03/16/2013
it happens to us all!
03/16/2013
I buy what we plan on using. Ofcrouse, some of the stuff does not work out for us after we get it and try it out. But I dont buy just to buy.
03/16/2013
No, no extra money for that kind of spending.
03/16/2013
I've done it with glass dildos.

I put other, I buy everything with intentions of using it but sometimes I never get around to using the items. I have a Jopen Vr1 that I heard people rave over I ordered it an it still sits in the shrink wrapped box unopened and untouched. I also have some glass pieces I was dying to get but have yet to use as well.

In a way i'm kind of guilty of this. But i also cant really bring myself to just buy a toy on a whim without doing some research and checking out the reviews. The set i'd one day really like to own is the entier Wonderland series by Doc Johnson!

Sex toys? Yes, I can overspend. I'm really good at controlling most kinds of frivolous spending, though.

I buy a lot of stuff that I want but since I dont have a partner right now its sort of frivolous.

Oh, yes. I once bought a green Little Paul vibrator because of a private joke between a friend and me.
See, when we were teenagers and very giggly about sex (I'm STILL giggly about sex, just not as much. XD), we would often talk about the possibility of owning vibrators, but were scared of what people would do if they were found. We discussed hiding places, and came to the conclusion that none of it would matter if we died suddenly.
We tended to repeat the same joke over and over again. "Picture dying of old age, at 97, surrounded by loved ones. Then picture them tearfully going through your things. Picture them reaching inside your knitting bag... and unearthing a bright green vibrating dildo shaped like a smiling green caterpillar."
That had just been a random description of a vibrator, the most embarrassing thing we could picture someone finding after our deaths. At the time we didn't really have all that much knowledge of sex toys.
So, when I first saw the brilliant green, smiling, shaped-like-a-caterpil lar Little Paul, OF COURSE I had to buy it, even if I don't actually use it. XD

nope, I don't remember ever frivolously spending.
03/17/2013
I only buy things that I really want and know that I'm going to use.
03/17/2013
I have a harness that I've never used, but I didn't actually buy it I picked it in a giveaway and won. But still, I choose it having no plans to use it and no one to use it with (my bf is also not interested in pegging, and I soon am)
03/17/2013
Yes! Sometimes I just get a notion about a toy I must have and can't rest until I get it in my hands.
03/18/2013
Every once in a while ill splurge for that magic item... But not very often..
03/18/2013
yes, when my toy collection was much larger I would buy toys that I thought were pretty or nice looking. Now that I've downsized things quite a bit I don't really do that anymore

And yes...I'm guilty of it. My intentions always start out good. I bought a Pure Wand recently, thinking it would end my search for finding the perfect G spot toy...and my toy collection outweighs my makeup collection by far.
03/23/2013
Yes, the desire was too great to ignore.
03/23/2013
Yup, of course! I don't spend outside my limits but sometimes you just know you should be saving but oh look there's a sale...
03/23/2013
I spend frivolously, buying more than one of the same type of toy (not exactly the same). I have not ever bought anything I knew I would never use.
03/24/2013
I only buy what I will use
03/24/2013
Im a poor college student I can only buy what I just have to have
