Hey everyone!!! Notice anything different on the product pages?
The Development Team recently updated the layout! Now all of the additional information about a product such as reviews and user uploaded product images are what we call "below the fold". (Think of a web page like the front page of a newspaper, all of the eye-catching information is "above the fold" with additional, supporting information below the fold and most web layouts are designed this way.)
In order to see the additional information, simply click on "More information about..."
This change should significantly improve load times for users while also ensuring a clean interface. We hope you like it!
One more thing...milestones: I have all of the information, I just need to do a lot of formatting and get the posts up, your patience has been amazing and I thank you! I'm hoping to get a few of them up today!
Hmm, interesting. That will take a little getting used to! Seems like it will be great for those that have issues with pages taking a long time to load though.
I was confused when I noticed it! Haha. It's cool though!
I was as well. I was up very early this morning looking for some new products, everything was still the old style, happened to check out facebook and come back, and everything was on the new style. Thought it was pretty nifty.
It is one more click for us experienced users. I share the concern of Bratcat regarding new users. The reviews are why I started shopping here. It would be a shame if new folks missed such a valuable tool.
I hope new customers will take the time to click on that "More information" bar, or else they'll miss out a lot!
Good point. I doubt many customers will take the time to open the "additional" information. The new update kind of cuts out the community aspects of the product page. Unless, of course, they take the time or care enough to expand the product page to see what the community has added.

That was my main concern. For anyone new to the site, or just costumers who do not frequent the forums may not take the time or even notice the "more info" link. Maybe keeping the best helpful and critical review box up on the page would be a little more helpful for new costumers.

Great point. I don't like it. I like to be able to scroll and see the review scores, before I delve into reading reviews and deciding on a product. The new extra click actually takes more time to load than the old version for me.
I did realize this.
My pages do load faster, but at first I thought there was something wrong with my browser. So good to know!
I do second those that expressed that they like the scroll option without the extra click. I don't mind the extra click, but I do like the suggestion given by bratcat about having the Critical Info/Available review preview (Pro/Con) still visible. It helps me decide how much more I might investigate said product.
P.S. I don't really know if this is up for debate, ha ha but I just wanted to say what I initially thought when I noticed.

Never mind new customers, I'm not generally opening the additional info either!
I noticed it before this thread, but haven't noticed an increase in page loading time or anything. I don't like it, but that's only because I like to have all of the information right there at once. Now I'm finding that I'm not clicking on the Additional Info if it's not a product I'm 100% interested in
I agree that it's easy to miss the reviews & extra info. When I first saw the new page, I thought, "why does this product have no reviews?"
Even though there is a link on the left for reviews, for some reason it seems difficult to see. Maybe I'm just feeling that way because it's changed and it looks different than it used to.
