My forthcoming book consists of interviews with participants in “The Lifestyle”(and yes, before someone else asks, they DID know why I was interviewing them. I didn’t just sidle up to someone at a bus stop and start asking them about their orgasms)
It’s about us but it’s aimed at anyone who has ever… wondered. There is a lot of nonsense in the media, this is hopefully going some way to reset a balance.
It’s an e-book because no literary agent will touch it, and I have tried. A lot.
(Having transcribed the last interview I fired samples of the book off to agents
The replies were: “Not suitable for us”)
So. In order to honour the time that my interviewees gave me and the trust that they gave me in telling their stories I have to go the e-book route.
I’m not really interested in money. I have enough of that.
I don’t want personal recognition. In fact I’ll be anonymous. Just like the subjects.
I don’t want to see myself published for self actualisation. I’ve been published. Many times.
I just want their stories out there.
It’s not all bad. I’m learning how to do new stuff, and on re-listening to the interviews (to get excerpts to put on the website) I find that the one that I was most bored with was the one that was really the most interesting.
Life’s like that. Sometimes you miss what’s right under your nose.
