Question for FtMs who have had a hysterectomy

I've recently been reading into hysterectomies more and I'm finding that there's actually quite a few options and methods to chose from. But something kind of scared me, one surgeon's site said he also removed the top part of the vagina (along with the cervix, uterus, ovaries and tubes), but I DEFINITELY don't want that. Is that standard with hysterectomies? Does it change the feeling of penetrative sex? Is it safe/possible to close and leave the cervix and vagina in tact?
